Mud Flaps to ditch or to keep

So, a few days ago I noticed something a little odd about my passenger side mud flap, that the previous owner never told me about.

So my passenger side mud flap had an aftermarket wood screw holding it on. I noticed it cause it was almost fully out and it was about to start rubbing on my tires.

I'm curious if I should just take off my mud flaps or if I should try to find a new way to hold them on. The screw in the next picture never stops spinning. It was the only other piece holding that mud flap on. My driver side has all 3 bolts.

Heres a picture with the flap on.

Here is a picture with the flap off

Also while I was down there I noticed some strange markings on the bottom of my mirror. I believe it says 05 160 R. This seems like something they may do at like a salvage yard. Along with few bits of paint over a piece of trim. Another piece of trim in that area looking nicer then the one behind it. The rear door on that side also has some weird marks. I think this car was actually in an accident on one side. The previous owner never mentioned anything about it though. What do you guys think, a few odd signs of imperfection on just that 1 side. I think it was hit on that side.

Go to a hardware store and get the right screws.

The screws from the other side fall out. They stripped the holes something fierce. I'm going to try and put like nuts/bolts on it. After keeping the mud flap off for a few hours I started to really miss it. So I will be throwing it back on. It has more personality with it on there.
