well...I'm guessing the "mugen" chip was already tuned/modified to your setup, so why not keep that? Are you boosted? If not the vafc isn't gonna be much help anyway

^^^ w0rd... VAFC is kinda pointless if the chip is built around your setup..

you know ...i was wondering ; isnt there a simulation program to chrome and all that
so you wouldn't need a dyno ...to tune to the closest thing so when you get on the dyno you don't waste runs for nothing?????

im pretty sure the apex vafc is > ebay "mugen" chip..
im pretty confident its not "tuned to his setup"
and long before all your special little ECU programs people would run built cars with stock ecus and vafcs... granted NOW there are MUCH better full ECU options.. but that does not make a vafc a "piece of s**t"

k maybe the term was exagerated but nowadays its better to run software
VAFC doesnt attract my attention...mind you i was really close to buying one ...once apon a time
but luckily i didnt
do you know if they got simulation programs so you don't need to waste time on dyno
so you can simulate to the closest thing ...then finish it by a run/ tune on dyno
rather than doing many runs

yeah agree'd, afc is definatly not shitty. from what i've been reasearching its a perfectly acceptable way to tune, but standalone would always been the idea over piggyback. just depends on your budget and your prospective horsepower and setup.

my advice would be to find out more about your chip... maybe talk to the guy you got the car from if you could and get some, if any, information on your chip. when deciding between the two, read some writeups on the two, and decide how much power you want, and what you want to do to your engine. then compare which of the two types of system help you out, and are more cost effective for your build. go whichever route you think suits you best.

sorry if i'm confusing i'm kinda tired and trying to type on my laptop in a weird position... hope this helps

just remember that its ALL in the tune.

It would be an excellent idea to run the chip and the vafc at the same time, You'll always have your chipped ecu setup, but with the vafc installed you can make tuning changes on the fly if you need.
