Multiple issues

I own a 99 civic lx which for the past few months has had an issue rolling up the drivers window,, It seems that for some reason the window wants to roll up at an angle and will never go up all the way without some major help from me, Also the hood relaese handle has snapped off and i am now using pliers to open the hood. Anyone have any trick ideas as to what can be used as a replacement for the hood release, or any ideas as to what is happening with my window?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Check the window trim/seal around the door. It's what keeps the window on track. Also you can pull the door panel off and re lube the tracks. As for the hood release do a search. There was a write up on something they yard but forget what it was. It looked nice and was easy.

Edit: a little cut in the trim will allow it to fall out of place.

So maybe something like a shot of Wd-40 would take care of ot! I would like to replace all seals but I've had a hard time finding them... Thanks for the info!!

No. Wd40 will attract dirt and will make it worse in a matter of weeks to months. Trust me. Been there. Only a silicone based lubricant that doesn't dry up over time or attract dirt will work but is only a TEMPORARY solution and WON'T stop it from tilting when going up.

Only way to completely get rid of it is to replace the rubber run channel that goes down each side (it's a 1 piece channel the is "u" shaped and goes up around the top of the door too). You can get them at a local honda dealer or online dealer like 1hondaparts.com. If you can't find them you aren't looking hard enough. My local dealer had them all in stock.

Just did it to all four of mine and they are lightning fast and roll up completely straight again.

The reason they tilt is because the tracks are all rubber and stretch out over time. This makes it so they move when pressure builds causing the window to tilt. Then they bind up.

When you call Honda ask for the run channel NOT the seal. That is incorrect wording and you will get the wrong part. The seal is a different part and is only on the door skin and jam.

I wouldn't trust a junk yard to be honest. It's a roll of the dice if you are going to get one that isn't stretched out and you could be an hour or 2 down on an install before you find out your junk yard gamble is a bad one. Your time and your money though.

*disclaimer: I said an hour because I don't know the skill level of the op (or anyone reading this) and it can be a pain to get the new one in straight and tight.

It's a hard rubber, not hard to tell if it stretched. Most common issue is small tears in them. To me an hour is well worth the $65 savings. Plus it's a pick n pull. I get to check it out before I take it.

I still disagree and personally don't recommend it. I would rather spend the extra and do it right the first time. Especially since the junk one is already old and even if it is still good it's on it's way out fast. A lot faster than a brand new one. Why waste your time only to get one that may not last much longer if it ends up being fine for the moment, than getting a new one that will last for MANY years?

Hard rubber or not, it's still rubber. There is a BIG difference between a 13 year old all rubber run channel and a brand new one in terms of "useability" especially when it comes to longevity.

Just my 2 cents though and like I said, your time/your money.

add washers to the bottom of the track to straighten it out then apply the silicone lube. Had to fix that one winter...soo cold. I posted on your other thread on how to fix the hood release handle. gl =D
