And Here are Matt's comments as he built this beast...

So I had bought this project originally as a project…… I had not set time or date that my car was supposed to be done. Just as long as I did the work all myself and paid for everything myself. So please be patient if I don’t post updates frequently, I am working on getting a 3rd job.

I was trying to build a car and set it up for corners. I have a small background in machining and fabrication. Everything else, when I had a problem I turned for knowledge to Justin Linder (owner of AlienAuto and Employer). He also had a very long background in CNC machining and fabrication which we put forth into our work on cars. This build up of my car has been over long periods of time and months in between modification and transformation . Making sure that I did 99.99% of all the work on the car.

To Have a 500hp beast under 1800lbs that handles like a race car.

My inspiration would had to be to be the fact that I would attempt to own anyone that would like to test me in anything they would like to challenge me in…. Or maybe it’s the fact of driving down the road being able to light the tires up the tires in any gear. To cruise down the road lighting up the tires in a 35mph zone(power braking it) while still going 35mph flipping off the ricer flamers with big ass wings on there cars and have no sense of purpose or knowledge of what the f**k they are getting into. To blow the f**king doors off everyone driving a car that thinks a wing or body kits makes there car fast. To shut anyone up that thinks performance is limited to engine work. Basically for anyone that think they knew what they were talking about, really didn’t. All the kids that had stuff done to there cars that was worth mentioning “there parents paid for” wouldn’t maybe get a sense of accomplishment with something they had nothing to do with other than point scroll and click. To have a car that is equally great handling to accomidate the speed. Well now that I am done ranting and explaining my point of view I guess its time to start.

When I go the car immediately started to strip it to bare chassis. Ripped every last piece of the car apart and let it sit outside In the dead of winter waiting for the Sound deadening to get hard. Then slowly chipped that away to bare metal.

Then the suspension came off, then the stripping wheels.

I stripped and sanded the inside of the car to bare metal prepping it for a full seem welded chassis from front to rear. I would advise against a acid dipped AE86 chassis. The sheet metal is to thin. After that was done I spot welded every last piece of the sheet metal around the doors and windows I could get to.

I soon broke the glass or had taken out all the glass panels I could.

Next I had cut out the back half of the car then made a custom fuel cell cage for my fuel cell to sit into. Eliminating the gas tank was just for fun…… Ok I am lying it was for purpose only. After the cell cage was installed then I had sheet medaled it back together to make it look clean and factory (except a giant square missing in the back half of the car).

I soon moved onto the chassis cage, which I designed and fabricated myself with the bender of Justin Linder and I designed it on an auto cad program. The cage I used a 1 ¾ DOM mild steel which I had custom made everything on. I turned to Justin Linder to weld the tubes together in the cage because he is a much better tig welder than I. Much safer and stronger welds I might add. Then I made gussets which I installed later

Once the seem/ spot welding, cage, and everything was done I moved to the front of the car. I removed to firewall with a plasma cutter and ordered a large sheet of mild steel. I decided that I was going to make a custom firewall to push the motor and tranny back and lower for a lower center of gravity. I mocked it up the basic design with cardboard and used stands and jacks to get the right placement of motor and tranny. I soon had a layout with my sheet metal. I cut, bent and welded my new firewall in perfectly.

I then turned to stiffening the front of the car. I bought 1 ½ DOM mild steel tubing that ties in front of the roll cage to the strut towers then back down to the frame rails in front. Since I still wanted a wrinkle factor in the front of the car I used smaller tubing in the front in case of a major accident.

I re plated the strut towers with sheet metal to make then even stronger.

Once that was all done I moved to the motor and tranny mounts I shaved the stock motor mounts off of the cross member to make custom ones and replace them Like I said I have a height and an offset I wanted the motor to be at for performance issues in mind. Once that was all in order I started to fabricate. I added onto the already existing SR motor mounts and accommodate for my new lower ones. Once the motor was all in I made the tranny mount (I had it all powder coated as well ) and cut the center consol out to make room for the custom one. I had boxed everything in after all cut out. Making it look like factory status. From the pictures I am sure you can tell the modification on what I had done. The shifter is actually about 6 inches farther back. I also stitch welded the cross member.

When it came to brakes I wanted to use a aftermarket set. But I could not find anything that would be short enough and not hit the steering column…. So once again I made custom pedal arms with Wilwood Master Cylinders. Had CNC’d bushings made and arms to keep the throw and peal ratio correct in the pedals.

After this was all done I soon started to strip the exterior paint down to the bare metal using 3M Paint/Rust remover wheels on a die grinder.

Since I was not going to be using the stock gas filler for my fuel cell I replaced the door with a custom fabricated piece of sheet metal made to match the contours of the body…. One of the hardest panels to get the correct body lines in I might add.

During all this time I was trying to find body panels, flares, hood, and fenders, everything… What ever will be unique…. But unfortunately I am very up tight about quality, and it just seemed that nothing was up to par with what I needed or wanted. Being picky meant months and months of trying to find the right thing to make it stand out. I also went with the largest flares I could find…. That lead me to CBY flares to stuff that major tire I will need under the car.

Here are a few things that had shown up early, I have stuff arriving the next 2 days also.... Plus whenever the container gets here.....

40ft of 3/16 304 SS hardlines for redoing my brake lines. These will just be the Chassis lines I will have braided chassis to brake lines.

Alright well I have received a few more goodies and I have started on my body work. I know I am a little picture happy but. I look at it as well documented… lol. I swear I could make a book already of the complete build and not even being close to done with it.

Matt has not decided what color to paint it just yet...

This car has the same fender flares front bumper he's rolling to get an idea of what it will look like...

I think he should go maroon or burgandy myself like this one on the left:
