Hey guys,
Reason for this post is I want ur awsome opinions on what im doing, maybe what workd for you, things I should stay away from & etc stuff ot the nature. Me & my dad had everything planed for a 300zx TT & build it a bit & take a roadtrip to the grand canyon but deal feel threw & some other bad stuff. So ive decided to make a respectbly clean & quik hatch & travel the US w/ my dad, or until we find his dream car & drive em both. With that being said, Do hope u guys enjoy & have any opinions id be glad to hear them all.
I got this car about a year ago. Its a 98 dx hatch, Its been the best daily driver i could ever ask for but I am part building at the moment & would love some opinons/advice from the best out there =) I am new to this site & posting stuff instead of reading so please bear with me. OK list of current alrdy have parts, Just installed ebay header(helped so much,car was stalling due to clogged cat)currently it doesnt have a cat but running a test pipe, catcon is on the way & I cant find a password jdm o2 extension cuz there out of the 32in. If you kno a place to get one let me know plz!! CAI( I convert it so a short ram when it rains. Reason for that is, where I live there tend to be unfriendly puddles & i have 3 friend lock there engine that way. Glowshift dash cluster gauge pod with oil temp, Tach, & volt. Volt is for when were all chilling at a lot or the strip, ill raise the hatch & jam a bit. From my old 98 ex i had(turbod dseris making 254) I have the greddy emanage blue box. I know know how or if I can enventually use that.

A quik list of current mods, for those who are here for pix.
-Megan racing catback exhaust
-Ebay header w/test pipe
-CAI
-Alpine system(doors & sub,sub is also quik & easy to remove)

Next mods coming this week.
Magnaflow high flow cat
Tach& volt meter (others are for engine swap or if i do a minime swap)
Clutch(havent decided yet, nothing major but can take some crap)
Slave&master cly also
Fuel filter

Long Term Goals:: 220-260 Na( Not sure about turbo yet, if did only would be for 7-10lbs max)
Loud vtec cross over( just would be nice)

Target Goal:: Even better, more effeciant & fun daily driver. While swap engine is being worked & parts are gatherd.

Want to buys...if anyone has these or knows a good place plz mge me
honda dohc vtec engine ecu & trans
Stock Si rims &or 15in red rims
Seats prefer them to have red but open to anything comfy

If you want your current engine to be running more efficiently get your ecu chipped and tuned professionally, also remove that short ram/cold air and reinstall the oem intake, maybe add a k&n drop-in if you feel necessary..do a seafoam treatment on your engine followed by a full tune up.

Remove your power steering & A/C (i wouldnt remove ac if your going to grand canyon....but....thats up to you)
Check tire pressure and get an alignment done.. uhm weight reduction i guess pull out that sub..

with all that done you should get some killer fuel efficiency... along with u driving a civic and all... lol :P

TYvm for the info, Im working at this minute to upload pix for you guys.. I am sry its taken so long, someone shot my dog & ive had to deal with that the past few days. Hes fine btw =),

The progess...
Ive been calling shops all over the country & i cant seem to find one that will do ecu stuff or if they can do stuff they arent very knowledgable. Im no honda genuis only a couple would but didnt seem to know jack about hondas. also I checked into chips & others for feul saving & have had no real progress in a decision on the ecu, wheather to chip, reprogram or highly mod & wait for engine swap. Any opinions =)
Cleaned up the OEM intake & box & ordered a new filter
JDM Highflow feul filter & presure reg
Began partail removal of the sub in the back(took out fuses & unhooked wires,not a total uninstall)
JDM 02 extension34 in( TY JEGS!!!! Password jdm was out & has no clue when restocked & other then ebay jegs had me & got it to me in one day)
New magnaflow highflow cat is the last peice im waiting on
Car is also preped for AC removal( its nice to say it works & have but it bogs the dseries to much & i never use in unless emgergacy anyways) Ive herd ill get a hp bump from that, is that true???

Current probs/issuse....due to i guess ppl slaming my door its slowly over time began to rip in fine rows, my window tint. Over time its gotten alot worse & now its hard to roll that window up & down(NONPWR). PLus the seals on the ouside are almost gone & i think i have a small leak in my driver door due to the seals.(if youve had this problems before any info would help before I go inside my door & investiage)

Next ideas...Red rims I found enkie has a set & another company. Think ill go with the enks tho.

Think im forgeting a few things but thats ok because the best is coming....Now...Keep in mind i am new to things & doing my best with my current knowledge & help of this site, others like it & a few true honda enthuse in my local area.
I have a spotless complete b16a head ive goten from someone on another site & am awaiting to here on the progess of my b20b geting here. Plans are a total tear down, port & polish & all new gaskets. Target goal is to have a N/A engine, hoping for 220-250hp with pistons, rods & etc, with no major mod needed for turbo(meaning dont want to replace pistons later down the road). If u guys have anything to add such as im funkn up or doing ok for at the moment or PLZ if im doing somthing wrong or have the wrong idea about what im doing. I am slightly steping out of my realm with a b20 but i have workd on 3 b16s all cranking around 440 hp( my budd has a bad nitrous prob) so I do feel somewhat comfy. But again Any info on anything from you guys is greatly appreciated! Im going to quik yakin now & start posting some pix of my car,parts & some problem areas

Unless you've got a whole lotta cash you should just quit wastin money on the D and save for te swap and build. 220whp isn't too difficult with a b20v but you really gotta make up our mind whether you want N/A or turbo. You'll need some higher comp pistons and good N/A cams to get to your target horsepower goal and those don't really agree well with a turbo. It's all about the tune but for reliability sake habit a high comp b20 reving to like 8500 (I'm assuming you'll be around there) then throwing a turbo on isn't the best idea. What's your part list idea for the b20 right now?

Sorry I vanished guys, I had back surgery & it kept me down for awhile. I still have plans on finishing what I started. I am having a couple new problems, out of now where wipers stopped working properly & im geting small amounts of water in the spare tire well. The brake noise seemed to have stopped so I assume it was just breaking in the rotors. I do tend to have to add a little bit of oil now & then but no major issuse especially since I plan on swaping soon. Other then wipers & water she runs great! I have one choice left to make, build up the b20 low comp I have or get a k series. I would prefer more dependable then fast but dont want to be left behind when cruiseing the back roads of Wv with my buddies. I was going to build it for a cross country & alot more but my dad bought his fav(300zx) & hes done alot & we plan on taking it when we do go on our trips.
Ill admit ive forgotten alot of the things ive learned but Im refreshing myself as much as possible. Any advice on the wipers( I did make a thread on here about them) or water randomly showing up in the trunk would be helpful. Other wise, going for target goal of 300hp & clean. Car still has only 73k original.
New questions, If I go with the b20 turbo set up, what would be a good trans?? & engine management for that set up. If I do the bswap ill be basicly on my own but if I go with the K I do have a few friends local that know a thing or to & said would help but want nothing to do with a bswap.
Anyway I hope you all are doing great & thanks for all your responces to my threads on here its helped greatly!!!

i would put an integra gsr trans on the b20 and for engine management get an obd2 - obd1 conversion harness and a chipped p28 with a basemap if your going boost or b20 vtec. check out xenocron.com they will have the conversion harness and ecu for sell already chipped with a free basemap to get your car running if you ask for it, you will need a dyno tune if you do boost or go b20 vtec.

K20a2 swap...the bolt ons needed to make it run along with hondata or aem ems will hit your 220 goal no problem with stock internals which means oem reliability plus the power you want. Plus it'll be quicker than a similar powered turbo car because the power won't be peaky.
