So i fractured 2 of my P30 pistons and now i figured would be a good time as any to do a build, I have a B16A block and crank or a base. Now I am looking to spend around $1500-1700 doing a mild build and this is what i was thinking.

8.7 Araes pistons $595
Eagle rods $330
Block guard $100

I have 1000cc injectors(i know, there huge)a good ball bareing turbo topmount mani 50mm wastegate and going to get it crome gold tuned by VIP in my town what HP numbers woul you estamate if i run 20-23psi? Im looking to make aroung 400hp but not sure what i can do to make this happen cheap and reliably, any input will be great.

Sounds like a good plan only thing I see wrong with it is those last too words u used CHEAP and RELIABLE these usually don't go hand and hand although it may be done I just have never seen a 400hp build end up being cheap but no harm in trying, and there's ur thought on what cheap is some can afford s**t and some can't I'm looking at around 300 in mine and I'm way past ur price range already and I'm not done lol!

my question to u is.. are u into "bling" or u want to make the power?

because u posted a lot of items that can be pricy and still make the same power as lesser (cheaper but good quality parts)..

for example u can make 400whp+ on a log style manifold ( i like Inline Pro) and they run about $499

also 50mm gate may be over kill,, u'll be good with a Tial 38mm , and they run about $230

i have a kit that i had mocked up for a friend of mine, and he made 376 on a stock GSR , but ran out of injector (550cc)

i will post the specs and cost later,, the kit was under $2500 and that down to the last bolt and nut!!

got traction

i rock the sohc

should be do-able. only thing i would be worried about is the stock sleeves holding up

the sleeves will hold up with a gooood tune... like 400-420whp is about the limit that i personally feel is "safe"... if i were him i'd tune for max power and de-tune for daily /realiable driving !!

i have seen a few stock sleeve cars make 500whp+.. and there was a rumor of a CLM black bubble that went 9.90@147 with a STOCK SLEEVE motor on about 625whp.. and i have personally had a stock sleeve motor (GSR) that made 447whp on pump gas. so as long as his limit is 400whp, he'll be good on stock sleeves!!

Yeahh anything is do-able cuz what go on youtube and there's that guy with a eg hatch that's the fastest stock sleeved d16 in the world at mid 10's every single pass and has been ran hard for 3 years now so and his is in the 410+ whp area and they said his was a rediculously cheap budget build, ITS ALL IN THE TUNE!

ok this is what i would do iff i were you. im not telling you to do it,, just take it into consideration

go with a lil higher compression ( for a more responsive motor out of boost , especially if you are running a larger turbo).. i like highhh compression on a sleeved block ,, but 9:1's are good for you! i have used CP pistons for a while and havent had any problems with them at all ( they are a lil noisy on cold start up, but quiet once the motor comes to temp)
eagle rods is a go :thumbs up:.. contact Chris @ Xenocron , u might be able to get a better price than that $330 u had up.

scrap that 50mm gate, and just get a tial 38mm gate,, most manifolds are flanged for it and they do the job reallllly welll, or u can have them flanged for it,, 2 bolt flange

blockguard has been a topic for a while now. like do they really work etc..
i hear a lot of things like they make your cylinders "out of round"~making them oval because the piston can't expand in a complete circle hence the rings/piston skirt wearing at the walls more on one side than the other.
i have used them, and have had no issue, i just say make sure it's below deck height and that the holes in them allow enough coolent flow.

i saw u mentioned you want a topmount , this is a "bling" item on a mild build like yours ( if u have the $$ and not ona budget, then go for it ).. but most other quality brands with cheaper manifolds will work just as good.. Neukin, Inline Pro,LoveFab,Peakboost,AFI ect. and they make manifold and downpipe packages ( most of them also sell turbochargers..so u can get a mani, downpipe and matching turbo)

AFI

Neukin

OneFab

Full-Race

InlinePro

MB Racing

LoveFab

it will mean less trouble for you when installing, so u have compatable flanges!

i love , and vouch for Precision intercoolers (the 600hp core cooler will be great for your set-up)

it's always good to go to a shop to have them mock up custom charge/cooler pipes for you.. but they sell really nice Alum/beaded edge pipeing for different chassis (eg,ek,dc.. and with SOHC/DOHC) [might need slight modding/cutting to make it fit your set-up] etc for cheappppppp with clamps and couplers!!
i just spent $160 on clamps and couplers ALONE!!!.. and after i found a kit on eaby with pipeing and clamps and cuplers for $160 shipped
this is a good cheap site for goods www.siliconeintakes.com also www.turbogoods.com

fast-turbo is a one stop shop for feed and return lines

1000cc injectors are fine,, better safe then sorry, they can always be de-tuned

a chipped ECU will be fine, especially on Crome Gold (get the boost by gear solonoid)

Don't forget that you aren't counting in the price of bearings and all the gaskets which aren't cheap, Just get a quote from honda and add about $300 to your total.

I have the the nuekin mani a synapse 50mm waste gate precision 1000cc inj. AVC-R boost controller tial BOV large intercooer DEI cryo2 intercooler spray w/ wideopen throtel controll and a great tuner, o and my turbo is good for 450hp its a hybrid BB spools around 3k. The crome gold my tuner uses is equil to Hondata S300 now also the AVC-R should help out to. the reason im going with the 8.7 comp pistons is to releave a lil stress off the stock sleaves and they should still be streetable.
