My honda civic (pics up)
Hey guys, im new here as of today. Randomly found this forum so im here to show you guys whats going on with my car, thoughts, and future upgrades to it or getting another civic.
My Car is a 1994 Torino Red Honda Civic EX Coupe (Manual Transmission)
Story time--
about two months ago in march i bought a honda civic with my dad at an Auction, i initially bought it for $650 (bid price) and with all the fees added up it came out to be around $970, not so bad right?
But there were some problems with it, (even now)
The connecting rod went downhill. Got 2 gapping holes in my oil pan.
There is oil all over the place under the hood. It makes a nasty burning smell when after i drive for about 10 or so minutes or when the engine gets warm. smells awful.
No radio upon purchase.
The A/C works but no cold air, just slightly lower than warm. somethings wrong with the compressor possibly getting a new one soon.
The Lights dont work except for on high beam and the high beam is like super weak. Getting those replaced soon.
Minor dents ( i mean incredibly minor, almost not worth mentioning but still minor nonetheless.)
and the last problem i think is that the Paint on the hood and near the sunroof on top is fading badly, my car is looking more pink than red because of the fade on the hood and top.
The engine squeaks a little bit when i turn it on, on a hill.)
I think that covers most of the problems.
Now lets see what me and my did DO to the car.
We took out the engine and put in a better one ( not new, got it at a salvage yard, not sure on the mileage of it though.)
We replaced the clutch, timing belt, and water pump while the engine was already out, thats basically all we did so far.
everything is factory, except the stuff that was replaced ill try and get pictures up soon.
As for the main question is, i really want to get rid of the smell badly and wondering if its worth investing money into my car
currently put up $2k for the car itself, better engine, clutch, timing belt, water pump.
The engine isnt like a super awesome engine, basically the same engine from another civic that was scraped.
Anyways i really like the civic model and here are the things i wanted to do to the car.
Get new rims, new tires probably "16
possibly change my hood to carbon fiber
possibly get a paint job, (re-paint same color or go black)
get a spoiler (maybe) probably a small one OEM style or similar.
Get a newer engine
Add subs and put in my new radio
replace the seats
lower it possibly
add a new front bumper as mine is slightly broken
im actually learning more about cars and i want to upgrade my performance on the car too drive better, smoother, and feel better. i dont want to be those guys that make their car look good but actually sucks.
I want it to be a beast.
So yeah, i know some of you might think im some kid who watched too much fast and furious, even though i did. But i actually want my car to be a project, something that i invested time into to make it look good, perform well, and be a beast, in all seriousness.
FYI: we rushed on the engine swap and other stuff since i need it to take it to work.
I'm currently 19 as of march this year, so i got time ahead of me. Just not sure what route to take on this car or if i should just get a new one as this one has quite a few problems, some im not sure on what to do with.
Anyways please and thank you for your time looking at this thread and possible answers.
I'll post pics ASAP.
