Pretty simple.

For US sedans:

1HG just says Honda of America, or 2HG says Honda of Canada

EJ6, EJ8 says which motor you have essentially

Then 5 or 6 for manual or auto respectively

8th digit will be 1 (DX-V), 2 (DX), 4(EX), or 7 for LX

So you'll see something like 1HGEJ662 and it will say it's Honda of US, D16Y7 motor, auto trans in a DX sedan.

Edit: RHD so may not apply the same, but there's easy ways to find out.
