just got this on sunday, my new project since the ex took the ed.

the parts car for the 70 fairlane, a 70 torino.

ford 9" rear

air shocks- would explain the rake of the car

so far

rear drivers 1/4 panel needs to be pulled out more and then weld the holes from the vinyl top. then prime the whole car flat black. im thinking ill do a matte black with a flat clear once all the body works done.

problems so far
the 302 under the hood has a bit of a rod knock, good thing its only a 302.

all drum, on the bright side its power assist drum and not manual drum

interior leaves a bit to be desired, but i have all the pieces to put it back together.

wrap up
needs a new engine
needs some interior work
needs bodywork and paint

good
tranny is strong,
electrical is great
drives nice and strong, suspension feels good.

not bad for free. thanks to a friend who wants to see at least ne more torino/fairlane on the road and wants me to be the other one

make that a 460 cid ford. I had one of these back in 1978. I lost the front drivers side wheel
when the the rusted frame broke. put the wheel up thru the fender- good times.............

im going to keep a 302 in there, my 65 mustang has plenty of power with the 347 that i built 2 years ago soi know the 302 can bring alot of power, plus the 460 is just to heavy of an engine. if anything im going to get a 351 windsor and build 447 stroker, but right now, im going to swap one of my extra 302's into it to get it to run and then put all ther interior back into it, and then start the outer bodywork.should be fun

For a car that old, you would probably benefit from totally stripping it down to the frame and rebuilding whateven needs to be done.

no but i bought the car for her on the premis that she getoff her lazy ass and get a job, and she paid for the repairs. after we broke up i just said f the problems and told her to pay me back one day, stupid thing to do on my part but we were lookin for a place to live together so i thought it would be fine, month later were apart. whatever cut the losses and hope that i get some money some day...a year a a half and boom, didnt even try w/ her after that s**t.

build is taking place in auburn in my friends backyard, till i have time (hopefully sunday) to swap in a 302, i just picked up. the weekend after im hoping to fix the drivers quater and get the roof prep primed, then i start trying to find all the parts for the body and get serious about body and interior.

ive got a few things up my sleeve on this one, and thanks to that 65 mustang project of mine, i hav ALOT of extra parts both performance and oe that are going into the fairlane. and im thinking of incorperating some honda knowledge into this to, hopefully everything will work out, if not, parts for the fairlane are cheap as hell
