My "new" Daily Driver 94 civic

So I bought this 1994 honda civic lx 1.5l automatic with 194xxx miles a little under two months ago. I paid $1000 for it, which I believe is somewhat high for its condition as well as others. Anyways lets get to details.

When I bought the car
  • the back of the pipe was rusted off including muffler emissions wouldn't test(replaced)
  • The driver side rear door was crushed. I replaced this with the blue door you will see though I did it my self and didn't fix frame so it doesn't really open.
  • No Power Steering fluid. Filled it no leaks
  • not very much antifreeze filled it.
  • Belts worn. Powersteering belt had tear half way through the belt
  • Two completely different taillights
  • Transmission slips on occasion
  • Bad attempts at ricing this car. Holes in hood from hoodpins I assume, holes in trunk from spoiler I assume. "Custom Interior" list goes on.
Initially I gave it a major tune up. Changed oil, changed plugs, had all belts replaced including timing belt and water pump. I replaced the muffler. I also had a viper alarm put in it and had a jvc receiver installed to replace stock cd player/radio.

Now on to the pictures:

These were taken today after I washed it. I have driven the car to work and back for about 1300 miles now.

What needs to be done

  • Cv Axels need to be replaced clicking on turn
  • Possibly struts need to be replaced. Rides a little rough
  • Those tailights gotta go. I probably put some blacked out taillights
The Future:
I plan on driving this car for about two years. Option 1 save up for a rebuild and transmission swap to manual once it has died as well as for all the body work it needs. Then turbo charge it. Option 2 save up for another car. I am still undecided. I can do very little work my self besides general maintenance being in an apartment with no garage to store anything. Besides I am a noob when it comes to cars though I have a growing passion for them.

What you guys think? Paid too much? How much too much? And if I did pay too much could I have got something better for the price I paid? Should I repair and build this car up? Or should I just drive it until it dies and save up for something better? All opinions are appreciated.

goddamn that things in rough shape, interior looks like it'd be painful on a bright day. But hey you can bring this thing back to life. Or just ride it out till it dies, just figure out if u like it after a year or so.

Well if I save it won't be for a civic. It'll be for something better, i.e. an impreza, camry, or evo. Thanks

Agreed that is it in pretty rough shape. I would just do the basic maintenance on it just to keep it running well and get you through the 2 years you want to own the car then get something else. At that point I don't think the car would be worth much so keep is as a beater car possibly?
