I have been reading about downshifting on turbos. Some people say you can do it but it bad for the turbo. Other people say its no different then shifting really high? Can somebody clear this up for me?

Why would downshifting be bad for the turbo?

I see no problem with it, whatsoever.

Actually, I can't think of a single reason you wouldn't be able to.

I think you are listening to the local 16 year olds down at the F&F wanabe group. Did you know a vegimatic attached to the motor gains you at least 70hp. Thank god you are on here to check the IQ of your friends.

This poor guy gets ripped everytime he makes a thread and i love it. But i did hear that it is bad to downshift in a turbod car to and i was given reasons just didnt find it that important to remember sorry man.

i know it is what i read from this website or from turbo16.com i just wanted to clear it up.... its not something i made up but i'll take the blame for it.....

i guess it's bad to even downshift at all coz the cams and everything else are gonna spin a lot lot lot lot faster..lol! j/k!

youll be fine. i dont understand why people say this at all....some people are just real gullible. so its bad to downshift? well s**t, better pray once you get in 4th gear you dont need to stop then start again...

haha i know..... i remember reading it though that if you downshift and you rpms are really high then it hurts the turbo.... but i'm glad its not true b/c i thought it was ridiculous too it wouldn't make sense..

nothing wrong with downshifting. unless its an automatic and you MANUALLY downshift from D4 to D3

thats hilarious i use to do that all the time in my neon.... and luckily hydro locked the engine from my intake and got my civic
