Nebie Honda Owner
Today I bought a 95 civic coupe ex with a 1.6 motor. Code vjfea. I have been reading about a B motor. What is this and where can I find this code ?? I am a old time chevy big block guy and want to learn about honda's. THis car won't start and I think it's because it's been sitting for 8 months ( any advise to starting this)and battery almost dead = charging tonight. I know tranny is shot ( what should I do to remove tranny = remember I have worked on only americam rwd vechiles )= got it towed to house tonight and put it in park and it moved down my dryway = behind rear wheels rusted out (is this connom and where can I find replacement sheet metal??) outherwise with a 150,000 miles looks good( I have heard this car can run good for 250,000 miles or even more = is this true???. I paid 250 for car with 4 new tires and think I have found a tranny for $100.00 ( does a 93 tranny work for my car ???). I am excited about this car and want to learn more about Honda's. ANYBODY WANTA HELP THIS NEBIE OUT ??????????????????????????

Yes hondas can go 4EVER if you take care of them...as far as working on the car...go to ur local autopartz store and get some knowledge..buy a book on ur model car and engine...a safe way to get to know ur car...

b series motors are mainly known for there dual over head cams. they are the more popular swaps done on civic's. the most well known b series out there that are being swapped is the b16a2, b18b1/a1, b18c1, b18c5..they all have their own pro's and con's so it just depends on what you want out of your car..i'd be a better swap if you swapped from automatic to manual as well, there are tutorials on how to do that if you have the knowledge or want to tackle it.

Thanks for the advise. The engine code is b411080259 = is seems to be a b motor code (1.6 vetec = correct and a good running engine???) ,but I don't think this is a DOHC am I wrong??. Today the car started after 8 months of sitting. I can push the car forward when in park and the tranny is making a Loud noise when in gear and won't move. Tells me that the tranny is gone. This car has 165,000 miles on it and sounds GOOD ,as as far as I know the timing belt and waterpump has never been changed. Seems as I ought to replace the tranny first ( any advise on how to change the tranny= remenber I have replaced on gm,ford rwd only)and then timing belt and waterpump = Does this sound the right way to do things???. Any advise would be helpful to this nebie ==== THANKS

the engine code is stamped on the front left of the block (facing the car), it sounds like you have a d16z6

whats exactly are you wanting to do with the car
