I just installed the Pioneer 5900 on my car last night and i am in f**king love with it..tons of sound changing options. it sounds awesome and now i can really pump it in my car and speakers sound fine and crisp....with my old jvc i would put it loud and the bass would start to sound like banging on garbage cans.

i have Infinity 5 1/4 in the front
Pioneers 6x9 in the back
nothing else and i think its loud enough.

the headunit is a bit pricey though..came out to 280 with taxes and 30 bucks insurance from best buy.

Alpine may not have many of the sexy features that others carry, but they are just so damn dependable... tough as a tank and even the cheap units provide excellent fidelity.

If you ever have to buy used, buy Alpine.

can i have some of your crack?

i jest, i jest. all a matter of opinion. ;)

never ask a car forum to build you a system. go listen and play with different brands and things. what i like may not be what you like. :D

I'm a Kenwood fan myself, but like it was said above. Go to an audio shop and mess around with the HU's. That is the main piece of equipment you have to be really happy with since it's the piece you'll see the most. Be sure it has enough outputs to expand your system.

BTW, you never need to stay brand loyal for each component of your system. Go with what sounds best. Every piece in my system is done by a different manufacturer and it sounds damn good.

i have all diamond audio in my car, components in front, 6x9 diamonds in back, diamond 400 watt 4 channel amp, and Pioneer 7800 deck. I love diamond audio, they are so incredibly dependable, a bit pricy though. When shopping for stereo though, here are the things to make sure you do:

1. If you plan on amplifying your interior speakers and doing subs, make sure to pick up a deck that has either 4 or 5 volt amp pre-outs, it will reduce the work your amp has to do to run at it's full potential.

2. When you amp, look at the RMS power ratings not the max power ratings, because those are 2 entirely diff things. RMS is constant power running to the speakers at any given time. Many amps might put out 400 watts max power for example, but really only put out 40 watts per channel RMS x 4 channels. This is why I have always stuck with Diamond Audio because all of their amps are rated to their true power ratings, and they are built to the highest of standards.

Good luck let me know if you have any more questions you want answered

the thing is even when you test equipment at audio stores....theyre usually combined with other aftermarket equipment...so when you take the headunit for ex. to your stock car speakers it wont sound the same as in the store...kinda sucks but go with reputable brands i guess and work from there.

well i'd think that was given. one, they're in a board, not in a car, so it'll sound different because of that. those speakers aren't stock, obviously.

i don't like mixing brands... i mean, ALL your equipment doesn't have to be the same, but i think it's strange to have different brands of amplifier, or different brands of speakers, or mismatched subwoofers. :what: i just think it's a turnoff, personally, but whatever works. :P

if you are concerned with money go to this site...http://www.judysdeals.com/ they usually have really good prices. and if youre looking for good vocals and hard bass you're probably going to want ot go with two amps. one for your highs and the other just for your subs. get 3 or 4 way speakers for your highs and a nice set of subs. to each his own with what name brand you go with. oh and get a cap. thats forgotten alot of times but its worth it. you can get a power acoustic 5 farad for like 80 bucks or so and its digital. hope some of this helps out.

you should always have two amps, imo, one for your highs and a sub amp. :what: aftermarket speakers are meant for amplifiers.
