For my birthday, I'm gonna be asking my mom to get me a stereo since I bought my car without one and I can't seriously drive anymore without screamo blasting in my face. This one at Autozone looks nice and would go well with the four inchers in my car already. It's a Kenwood. I need some reviews and any instructions you have for installing it. My wires are all messed up so I'll have to do some hardcore wiring when I get it.

going from NO music to ANY music will be such a huge improvement I dont think anything else will matter.. lol

wiring speakers and s**t shouldn't be too hard.. if the wiring is THAT bad maybe just start over.. it beats constantly blowing fuses due to some hacked up factory wiring..

Well, wiring isn`t the hard part. The hard part is finding out if all the wiring is there. I`m gonna see about marking each of the wires so i don`t lose track.

colored electrical tape is awesome for this, just wrap the ends in different colors once you know what they are. That way you won't forget by the time you go to put the deck in.

Hmm. Thanks. I might see if the junkyard has any harnesses intact.

Doesn't matter if it is. Just rewire.

Run a 12v constant from the fuse box for the yellow wire, tap into a keyed (ignition acc wire) for the red one, ground it (black one), and then run new speaker wires.

I have done it on EVERY vehicle I have owned. I don't trust other people's hacked up wiring and jerry rigged crap so I have rewired them all myself.

Sounds like a good plan but where do the wires go? Under the floor or through the headliner?

you cant go wrong with kenwood. spec wise they are great. i have the 145 model which has a stealthy look to it lights up blue and red. paid 75 for it and it cant be beat and has good power output. i'm not into the boom anymore. have 6 1/2 in the door and deck and a cheap amp pushing a boxed 10 in the trunk for some fill in bass. the amp only cost 30 new and the boxed sub only cost 30 new. i think they are visonik. i know not quality stuff but works well for some fill in bass. look at the kenwood 145 for a head unit you wont be sorry.

Hmm nice. They don't have that one at autozone, only the 138. I may have to see if walmart or target has em.

[Edit] Walmart has the 145 for $66. I may go with this. Why does the 138 cost more?
