Need Building Advice

I am going to buy a civic hatch pretty soon, and swap a b16 into it. I already own an 8th gen si, but I don't want that to be my project car... Too expensive, and I don't want to strip it.
But anyways, I plan on pushing around 10 to 15psi in the b16, but I don't exactly know what I need to do to prepare the engine for boost.

Should I sleeve it? Or go with the cheaper block guard?
Should I also lower the compression? If so, what would be a good way to do that?

(I plan on spending around 4 to 5k on this engine, so I'm probably going to put skunk2 turbo cams in it)

thanks for the help!

i also have a b16 and in 2 or three years(when my stock motor is maxed out) i am going to get ls pistons, a low compression head gasket and i am also going to get new piston rings. all of that will cost me less than $1000 and it will lower my compression ratio to 9.?.

before putting the b16 in i would recommend that you do that and also get arp head studs, some good cams and if you have money left over get a head rebuild and a 3 angle valve job(the 3 angle valve job did make a difference and all of that cost me $300). it would be a good idea to sleeve the block.

with all of this i think you can make at least 300+whp with no problems.

PSI doesn't matter. Each turbo puts out a different amount of HP at each PSI. You don't need to sleeve it for 300hp. I would recommend building the block (forged rods and forged low comp pistons) for peace of mind. The most important thing you can do is study, study, study. The more you understand about what your doing the better your end results will be. When you do boost if you build the block ALWAYS use an OEM headgasket!

Thanks you guys. =)
I'll keep all that in mind.
Are you SURE I wouldn't need sleeves for 300hp?

Yeah if you build your bottom end you will be more than fine for 300hp. Just make sure you have a good tuner.

i would sleeve the block if i was you...you cant go wrong with a built block....now as far as the head goes you can get some cam gears, an intake manifold and your good with that. also for 300whp i would get a walboro 255 fuel pump and some rc550 saturated injectors and MOST IMPORTANTLY.....A GOOD TUNE!!!!!! with all that (if you do some of the work yourself) and a pieced together kit your looking at around $4000-$5500 give or take a few hundred

If you just have serious bank go ahead and get sleeves so you can make serious power in the future. However they really aren't necessary at all for 300hp. Hell I've seen 300hp on stock internals that have been lasting for over 2 years now (not recommended though).

if you want to make only 300 hp then i suggest you dont spend 5000 on building your motor. it wont make any sense.

if you want 300whp i would suggest not touching the motor, not even head studs. invest wisely in good parts, engine management and tuning.

for 300 hp hmmmmmm:

-550cc injectors at least (stock 240cc would own you)
-fuel pump (xenecron.com has a 255 for cheap)
-lower compression
-head studs (dont want the head to float and blow a gasket)
-clutch
-a GOOD tune

and there are alot of other things that would help give you what you want.

it depends on your budget;)
