Need Car Alarm!!

Well i just got my CX HB civic and i need a car alarm FAST i live in a bad area....SAN JOSE.
Can any 1 give me some tips on which alarm to get?

im guessing u want a 2 way? any DEI is pretty good like viper. have a viper myself, its a great alarm..but the range is not that great. ive heard great things about the newer compustars though, id check out either of those 2 for sure.

if anything at all you should get a kill switch until you get teh alarm

i hate the alarm switches they are always low qual, i need like OEM, but OEM isnt that good. I wear my keys on my belt so i break teh alarm clickers.

I strongly recommend any DEI products. I just bought Compustar 2WSS, and this is the best 2 way in the market. Viper is good also, like MK97 mentioned. But, if you are looking at good range, the compustar is the one you need.

switches are gay.. how many people actually switch it to off every single time u leave your car? when your in a hurry or in a rush you probably will forget. its better to get a relay its cheap like less then 5 dollars about the same price as a switch. with a relay u can hook it to your alarm and your fuel wire or any other wire. when the alarm is arm. power to the wire with the relay is disabled until alarm is disarm.

but for a alarm.. i sugest a compustar. viper alarm range sucks balls. i got the pager one and its not even worth it. when your in the range of the pager u can already hear your car. but when your out of hearing range your also outside of pager range so its pointless.

You bring up a very vaild point.

I started out with switches on one of my cars so its burnt into my brain about flicking them.

this could be wrong...but don't some people stick like detachable steering wheels in there cars for an anti-theft device...or is that just for show?

if a car has a autolock but no alarm? a car without an alarm thieves can spend all day taking any parts they like without worrying about a siren going on. usually any place that has security driving around, when they hear a alarm they go check it out. also autolock are good but not great .. it can be bypass.

not to far , basicly like someone said above if you cant hear your alarm go off your to far for range but like if its in your drive way and your in your house you should be cool

ive heard compustar has had issues w/ remotes breaking and other problems w/ the products..but maybe they fixed them?

Get an alarm two way just for the comfort but get air horns hooked up too..This way your alarm stands out from everyone elses and is loud as hell..Im in NY where everyone tries to get at my car and when that s**t goes off ull hear it..and people are outside looking like wtf is that.

Also get a multi lock..That saved my car from being stolen at least 3 times when i didnt have an alarm..Its a U bolt that locks your car in reverse..and a lock that pulls up from the clutch wouldnt hurt either.


Just know as I do..If they want it they'll find a way..I feel rather confident..I just need a hood lock..I dont wanna put those eye sores on my hood again.

i agree...but if you a GOOD thief really wants your car, hes gonna get it
