Hello! I am trying to upgrade my big 3, but I can't seem to find anything that has enough detail for me to start switching out wires.
I drive a 6th gen. I am running my amplifier(not the same one from earlier, a legit amp) at 1500rms at 1ohm. It is taking a lot of power. Where I first turned it on, it played loud. My goal was to have a set-up that could be loud when I wanted to show off and nice when I wanted to listen to music. The system was plenty loud, it just got quieter and quieter after the first 20 minutes, until now it barely puts and music out at all. The power indicator led hardly comes on, but the protect mode light is NOT on. My guess has been that this car battery was giving me enough energy to keep up with the demand from such a high-power amp. I know I need to upgrade the power wire also, but while doing that, I am going to finish the "big 3" project I started. I switched out one ground, but I think it was the wrong one anyways. I get transmission to ground and chassis to battery negative, but I am having issues figuring out exactly where the positive battery to alternator is. In fact, I can't figure out any of the wiring to the alternator, or a good way to get to it.
Maybe my searching skills are bad, but I've been searching over two hours and I can't find anything that helps me enough.
Long explaination short, I can't figure out how to upgrade wiring to the alternator, and I need either a good description or a picture or two.
Also, if you read my whole problem, do you have any other suggestions? I am not quite budgeted for a new alternator costing more that $250 shiipped.
Thanks for your input!
