in a honda you want to do multiple of lower power handling subs. I would do three or four 150-200 watt subs. If you do 2 big subs you just end up with power headaches. Your alternator is only 65 amps and unless you are planning on upgrading that you are just wasting money at power you can never make

Loud does not equal quality. Anyone can make a system boom loud, but it takes time and money to make it loud and clear.

G/L with your project. Why do you need it that loud anyway?

Well, subs are an ez add on IMO. First do your shopping for clarity. You'll def need some components in the front (maybe add speakers to those since your not looking for good imaging). You'll need some serious power from a few amps, a good HU that offers you the bells and whistles you'll want to EQ your tunes and a really good power source. Then work on your subs.

BTW, you may need some earplugs if you intend on driving it that loud.

The problem with going with 18" subs is the airspace. Most cars dont have that kind of airspace in the trunk. And its not a good idea to mix up the size of the subs unless you are using some of the subs as mid bass drivers. Mid bass would be better for 8"

pricing out a system for what you want could be around $5000.00 s**t we got $10,000 wrapped up in our system and its probably the clearest system I have heard around where we live. If you want it loud and want big subs check out the image dynamics IDQv2 fifteen. 1.25 cubic ft enclosures. will fit in anything

HU = Headunit

IMO = In my opinion

Well since you have an 03 coupe, I don't think you'll be able to go any bigger then two 12's w/o customizing enclosures. Remember that a ported box will give you more boom (you'll need a larger enclosure) vs. a sealed box will give you tighter bass (less room needed). I'd say you'd be happier with a ported enclosure, but you can say good bye to any usable trunk space.

Here's an article about imaging. They explain it better then I can. Click Here

As far as price, it will depend on the brand and quality of stuff you want to put into it. Don't forget labor if you don't know how to do all the wiring. A soft estimate would easily start at $1,000 in parts alone. You are not undertaking a cheap hobby.

honestly if you're lookin for something thats loud and sounds good. get 2 JL 12W7 subs and quality amps to run them. thats if money isn't really an issue. if you're on a tighter budget, i'd recommend Kicker Comp-VR subs (2x 12")and a Kicker mono-block amp to run them.

EXspeedaddict is right about the subs. I agree with him on exactly what he said. I've got two sony subs with kickers top model 2 channel amp driving them and it's more then enough. Nothing pretty, but my roomate can hear me blocks way. Rear deck 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 inch speakers with movable tweeters are ideal. Of course components up front work perfectly. I'm going to run my front speakers off of my head unit right now and the rears off a 4 channel amp, eventually I'll connect the fronts to it. -Supersprint22
