convertables never bass all that well. What we have done in an eclipse spider, is two twelves in a truck box (thin box to fit in the trunk) and a smaller amp. I like MTX amps because they are small but powerfull, and you have limited space. We mounted the amps underneith were the roof folds up. For that sub you only need about 250 watts (RMS not Peak) to make it sound good.

the speakers and tweeters should sound just fine through the headunits powersupply. I used to have that head unit that you have in my system. So all you should need is an amp to power the subwoofer. I know most car audio buffs like to max the power on all speakers, but a simple system can sound just as good and sometimes better.

I think that head unit was good for 23 watts RMS or something like that...I just passed on Pioneer because. A:I got an ass kicking deal on my Kenwood. I wanted Alpine but the Kenwood deal was too good.
B: I have always thought Pioneers controls to be a bit small and complicated.

But should be good for awhile anyway...you can always upgrade later.

oooh alright thanks. but wouldn't the amp kill my battery fast? i like to listen to my music in the parking lot with the car on accessory... and that would drain my battery, a capacitor will fix this right?

No.

The capacitor discharges upon low voltage to meet the amp's power demand. But it still needs to be recharged by the battery.

There was a debate back then questioning the need for capacitor. Some people believe that running capacitor will kill your battery even faster.

you know what you could do. you know you're remote wire that run from your deck to your amp. In between that put a switch there. So therefore you could turn off and on. It really help me from get those "distrible the peace" ticket.

Pioneer makes me sick! Connect my Eclipse 8051 8V head unit to my JL audio 300/4 and blew the front speakers in less than a day... the stock 6x9's still bump fine, will have new fronts in next weekend! But I'm sorry you went with pioneer, I would say stay away from an amp for those things
