Ok here's the deal
I went to Florida last Friday, came back today. My car sat every day except sat when a family member drove it about 6 miles. They didn't use any electricity other than the AC & and head lights at night.
I come back and get in my car today and my CD player isn't working. It ejects and takes CDs in, but it won't power on or do anything other then eject or take in the CD. I also noticed that my DVD player doesn't have any power at all, and I'm assuming the same for my TV (can't tell unless DVD player is on). I didn't have a plug for the cig unit so I can't tell if it's dead.
I worked a half of day when I got back and by the time I got out I didn't have much time before it got dark so I checked what I had time to. Checked all fuses under the hood. None blown, backup / radio fuse under hood was good. Under the dash I saw that my radio clock fuse was blown. Replaced with the spare fuse and it still didn't work. Cig lighter fuse was good too. Checked 1 or 2 more fuses, both were good (didn't see anything on the fuse list that looked relevant so I didn't check all of them).
My batt cables (neg / pos) were the stock ones, and weren't the tightest (not loose, but like 8yrs old). Only took a few minutes and I planned on doing it to I changed them. I also checked my head lights, high beams, etc... long story short I verified that everything works except what I mentioned.
Only thing I could think and it's a long shot. While I was gone we had the hottest weather of the year here. I soldered the radio harness to the stock converter harness so I didn't have to cut wires and covered the solder spots with plenty of electrical tape. I doubt it but maybe cause it was so hot the tape came off one of the wires and it touched metal or something. That would explain the radio not working, but what about the dvd player and tv? Since the radio clock fuse was blown it had to have just happened or at the most a month ago. I installed the radio about a month ago and it worked fine up until today. I had the stock radio in before that and the clock worked so the fuse had to be good then.
Anyway. It's obvious that I should check the radio harness and see if the tape came off of any of the wires, but I won't have time to do that until this weekend so I'm wondering what if anything else could've caused this besides that considering the dvd player and tv don't work either which are two separate units (3 total not working). I seriously doubt the tape came off, but I dunno.... Seems wierd the unit still ejects, but doesn't power on and the others seem completely dead.
Last it was my father that drove the car. I know he didn't f**k it up. Didn't even use radio. Face was sitting in the same space in my house when I got back. Wouild've told me if he touched something.
Sorry if the post is long, tried to include everything at once I could think of so someone if anyone can help.
