Need help with detonation!!!

Ok I have a 1993 honda civic EX coupe running a stock D16z6. I just recently got a full turbo kit from a friend and put it on and it runs fine up until about 3500 rpms then starts detonating or backfiring and tries to die. but if i shut it off and back on it resets it and runs fine as long as i keep it lower then 3500-4000 rpms. I am running a stock ecu and everything with it and I also timed the car 2 retard like i was told to but it still didnt fix it. Im also running a code for map sensor now but i wasnt before turbo was on car. It ran perfect before turbo please help!!!!!!!

yea once it starts its like it just kills the gas.

Well what psi are u runnin. Turn it down if it stops then u know ur not gettin enough fuel.

its only getting up to about 5-6 psi but im running a 10 pnd spring wastegate with no controller

Put ur timing back u need somethin to tune it asap.

i already timed it back to the retard mark like i read online and it didnt change it any. im trying to find a boost controller atm to see if it will run 4 psi steadily.

If ur getting boost creep fuel cutout will follow. Ill think on anything else that comes to mind
