i have a stock 94 civic ex and my vtec isnt working. ive changed the ecu i have a few virgin p28s and none of them make a difference and i know they work as my cars run just fine and vtec works on them. i used a jumper wire to the single wire on the vtec solenoid and it clicks so i assume it is working.

my tack doesnt work right it bounces all around sometimes but mostly doesnt work i took out the cluster and checked the plugs and all were tight and cleen any help would be great thanks

well if your tach is jumping all over the place then the vtec solinoid may not work correctly as it is ran off of oil pressure and rpm switch (i think)

so maybe a bad vehicle speed sensor?

Because of the problem with the tach, I would check the crank sensor, which gives signal to the pcm for rpm and ignition.

vss

vtec runs off oil pressure, but the three things that will cause it to fail is water temp, oil pressure and vss. Or a f**ked up ecu but that doesnt seem to me the case

My spedo works fine and the only code I'm getting is code 41 witch is a heated o2 sensor I was told. How do I tell if my vss is working. A nother idea is there any way my vtec solinoid the part where the oil goes in could it be plugged ? I have a speed sensor with a broken clip I'll swap it on and see what happens. Also my engine has 210k on it should I worry about the oil pump I've driven the car 2000 miles so far and I've reved it only to 6,000 to 6.500 rpms so I think it would have blown by now thanks for the help so far I will change the vss to night and let you guys know if anything changes
