My temperature gauge is going from 3/4 hot at a red light and when i drive it it comes down to 1/4. Today on my way to school my reservoir was steaming which cause the temp to get high so i pulled off the road, and let the car sit and fill it back up. Well i check the cap and it was sloppy so i got a new one, doing this cause the temp to go from 3/4 when at a red light to 1/4 while driving.

Also i fill pressure in the water tubes that lead to the engine and thermostat so i need help figuring this out!!

Thanks

Well if you keep running it like this you're going to blow the head gasket if you haven't already. Go get yourself a thermostat kit and change it out. Pretty cheap and quick to do.... Far better than waiting and doing the head instead. Just to be sure and save a little coin, check that your fan is operating correctly first. If it is, get to that thermostat asap.

First off, like said, CHANGE THE THERMOSTAT. Second, is the fan coming on?

The fan. The radiator. The thermostat. Those are your options. If your upper hose is bulging from pressure, you have too much air in the system. The air bubbles expand as they heat up. Are you leaking coolant? Also, make sure you park up a slope when you fill up the coolant. Actually, find out what the proper filling procedure is. I'm too lazy to find it for you lol
