Hey guys, so after my accident I had a really good body shop fix my car. But they installed the hood-pins at an angle, not straight (see pics). After tossing it up on forums for sale no one has shown much interest because the pins are screwed up. The body shop has offered me two options.

1. They will buy me a new hood and install correctly OR
2. They will give me $300 cash and call it even.

Both would be nice but for $300 I'd probably be willing to deal with the pins...

I'm unsure so I'm interested in what you all think.

Pins dont go straight in.

The sparco base is fine because its aluminum but I need to replace the pins and rings. I just haven't done it yet because of this issue.

the Issue is the pins don't go STRAIGHT in, they are at an angle. When I installed them on my VIS hood, I spent the extra time to make sure they were perfectly straight.

good luck with that.. i tried a million pins and they all oxidized like that.. and were all s**t.. but i still dont understand whats wrong with the pins.. i just measured the bottom of the pin to the edge of the hood and it seems IDENTICAL on both sides? what exactly went wrong?

The sliding pin used to go straight into the hole and sit straight once latched. Now it sits at an angle and it just isn't to the standard that I had when I installed them on my first hood.

I realize they will probably oxidize again but like you said they look shitty so why not replace them?

Why not just paint the pins or get them anodized?

back on point, I'm just going to take the $300 and use it for some additional goodies towards my B18c5 swap.

im pretty sure that way is the best way to install them, i put my hood pins on the up and down way, and i always had problems. they would slid back down and id pop my hood and one would be back in the hole and my hood would be all warped up and s**t. -shrug id leave em like they are, take the 300 bucks and pay the power bill for you mom and dad for a month or somthing
