Hey guys,

I need some opinion on a potential purchase my friend might make. its a 1997 Acura CL 3L V6 VTEC. has 282xxx KM, it needs a crank pulley, timing belt cover, and some body work around the rear wheel wells. its inspected until september. My question is, is there a possibility that the timing belt cover needs to be replaced because the belt broke. and if the belt broke, would that f*** up the timing?

The guy is selling it for $400, so im wondering if you guys think it is worth it?

Here is the link for the ad if anyone wants to take a look

Well for $400 you can part it out and make your money back. And yes, if the timing belt was broken or off and it hasn't been running since then, timing is absolutely off. V6 motor's blow to work on. I've bought a few to fix and resell and it seems like the amount of time it takes to fix them just isn't worth the resell value IMO. Plus... if my math is right (I carried the 2), 282 Kilometers is like 4 billionty miles (or was that divide by 2? I can never remember) correct?

IMO, I'd pass. Too much work to do even the simplest things on a V6 Honda motor. It'd have to be a perfect storm of awesomeness for me to even consider buying another one (But mainly because I flip them making any profit almost nothing after all said and done).

EDIT: Though if timing and the motor is still good (for now), it MAY be a good buy at $400... But for how much longer???
