Need to install a 12v adapter to a 90 civic hatchback that never had one.

There is a round punch out in the dash cover piece, and after removing the cover there is a bundled wire with a rectangular shaped thing for something to plug into. We bought a generic 12v adapter and it had a red and white wire with metal clips on the end that would no way fit into this wire thing hanging down.

Obviously I am a total idiot about this stuff, but I can follow simple directions and I can't even seem to find a place on line to order a part that will fit into that plug thing.

Can ANYONE help? We need it for the GPS by next Friday and don't wanna pay someone! Just bought the car yesterday.

run a hot wire with a inline fuse from the battery and ground it with the other wire and there you go. or you can splice into your radio hot and ground.
