as some of you already know, my car suffered hail damage from last week...here's the deal:
1) ok...so my car's at this shop right now getting ready for repairs...the insurance approved $5500 worth of repairs minus deductible which ends me up with $5k. the shop just gave me a PDR estimate of $3500 for everything except the hood, coz we talked about replacing it with a carbon fiber hood...then to repaint the front/back bumper, right fender, and left quarter panel is another $700. which leaves me $800 left to spend on something else for the car ($500 on the cf hood, which gives me $300 left). this is a shop that i picked to take my car to...
2) Vandergriff Collision Center gave me an estimate of $4800 for all the repairs minus the deductible ($4300)...and that would be PDR, repaint the left quarter panel, replace the hood, and replace the roof. now this is an actual repair center that my insurance company has on their list of shops.
3) there's another shop i took my car to a few days back and they gave me an estimate of $3500 to do everything shop no. 1's gonna do including the hood. so that leaves me $1500 for a cf hood or a set of new wheels for my car.
shop no. 1's been recommended by one the locals on the forum...shops no. 2 is from the insurace co., and shop no. 3 was recommended by my buddy who used to own a body shop locally (he knows the guy who owns and works at shop no. 3)...i guess what i'm trying to ask for is, your opinion if i should go ahead and take my car to shop no. 3 instead of keeping it at shop no. 1. i'm tempted to take it to shop no. 3 coz with $1500 i can buy me a set of mr wheels, a cf lip, and the evo dave headlights/tail lights/side marker package...with $800 i don't get much, plus the shop owner has to find out if his PDR guy would include the hood for the $3500 estimate and let me know tomorrow. $3500 for a PDR period sounds a bit too pricey imo....
i hope i didn't cause too much confusion...thanks fellas!
