Aight, need your thoughts on this, first is it possible to keep the stock cat when running turbo? Or do you NEED to replace it? Ive researched the route of a test pipe, but heard that its raspy & ricey and your car smells like s**t, so dont really wanna go that route and hi-flow cats are fairly expensive, so im really wondering If Im able to keep my stock cat, and if not, which route to take toward somethin else?

Second, based on this picture..

** Notice the lil bungs (3 of em on the manifold) could I use one of those for my EGT probe or nah?

i don't have a cat on my boosted b18 but i would think having one would be a big downer for power and you could possibly blow it up, i guess highflow cat...?

i think that would be a good place for the EGT but don't quote me and another thing is will the probe fit without hitting the other side of pipe?

hmm..well should a get a test pipe or a high flow cat? Cause ive heard with a test pipe you get a raspy gay ass sound and a horrible smell or is it really that much better to pay alot more for a high flow cat? And then shea, about the egt, what do you mean would it hit the other pipe?

i meant watch the probe doesn't hit the other side of the header, so roughly measure the width of the part of the header where you want the egt probe to go and measure the length of the egt probe and see if it will fit

aight, but where to place it? can one of those three "nipples" work? or nah?

And then as far as a testpipe or high flow cat? whats your opinions? Cause like ive said, first off ive heard that a test pipe makes that annoying loud raspy noise and then it smells like s**t? You have one, so is this true or what? Cause id rather get a testpipe than a highflow cat, but if thats the case for the testpipe (above) then i guess a highflow cat is better.. :???:

I have a straught pipe on my s**t but I don't have any inspections here in MI. I say get a straight pipe and go to a ghetto shop to get it inspected ;) $$

i have a test pipe right now, i'd like some kind of cat because as you said, its that loud raspy sound and its kind of annoying, i would go with high-flow cat

as for the egt probe, that seems like a good spot, i've never installed one so i'd get a second opinion first or do a search

hmm..well i researched and its been said to place the egt probe in the 3rd runner on the manifold about 2" away from the block..but what im wondering is will one of those three nipples work just as well?

imho i think that the bungs on top will work just fine, i'm taking my car to the shop on friday and having them put in a autometer EGT gauge along with some other work so i will ask 'em where they're putting it

ok, found out today that the third bank of the header is a good place for an EGT probe, so none of the bungs on there will work to get the best reading, you can obviously put it anywhere on the exhaust system and get a reading but the best reading for tuning purposes is that one
