Needing opinions on getting a hatch

This is my first post on here but I've had an account for a while now. I have a 95 EG sedan that is an okay car. It is very very dependable. I've had it for 2 years and put plenty of time and work into it. It had major cancer, which I done a temporary fix which is tiger hair and body filler. Im not too worried on cutting and welding since I bought it for $800 2 years ago. I've recently found a 94 hatch. I've always wanted a hatch. But this one has major amounts of cancer and quite a few dents and has no carpet and seems to need quite a bit of cosmetic work. The owner says its dependable, which believing someone nowadays is damn near impossible. But would any of you guys make the trade? What's your thoughts

You're right to not believe anyones word without your own thorough inspection or that of a professional. Do they both have AC, any leaks? It would help if you provided individual mileage along with pictures of both for a better idea on how to respond. Inspect the hell out of the hatchbacks engine and take it for a long test drive, including the highway, to get a good feel for it. If you think its reasonably comparable in engine quality, you should then compare body damage and perhaps convince the guy to throw in a few hundred bucks for the difference.

I'm trying to figure out the image uploading. My sedan has 180xxx with a d16 swap from the previous owner, so mileage is unknown on it. But ive driven the civic on multiple road trips. It has AC and PS delete on it. Now, the hatch has the Ac components but isn't working. It isn't nothing I cant fix, ya know? Now I've had multiple Hondas and many other vehicles in my life. I've never owned an EG hatch, but always wanted to. I'll get this image stuff figured out and get opinions from there

Brenton, that hatch has some really bad rust. That looks like total quarter panel replacements, possibly needing doors replaced as well. I can only imagine how much undercarriage rust it has. You're better off saving up for something more rust free. In the meanwhile, clean yours up as best as possible for a better potential trade. You never know.

By the way, where are you in KY?

It clearly must be an HX you bought if it has a CVT transmission. That sucks, but you can find them out there. It may cost you a bit though. I personally cant stand those trannies. Unless you know they've been babied, theyre one hell of a risk because theyre so expensive to repair.

To rebuild it costing half the price of the car and buying it used is about quarter.
