New: 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol S

Hello everybody I figured I would post up an introduction as my first post. Last week I purchased my 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol S. It was for the lack of a better term a bit riced out with 17" Motegi wheels, 5% window tint, a giant painted on Honda H on the hood and passenger fender, Honda Racing stickers, and a huge 5" canister muffler welded onto the stock exhaust. The car was pretty rough as well with a blown radiator, and very, very, very dirty inside and out with a busted wind shield.

But a week and $800 later the car is sitting pretty right now. I still have a few things to fix here and there but over all the car is really starting to look good. I replaced the wind shield, put on an OEM style exhaust system, Silla all aluminum radiator, 14x6.5 BBS basket weave wheels, removed the window tint, removed all the stickers, full tune-up with some new gaskets, and pulled all the interior for deep cleaning (found about $8 in lose change).

The car is running much better but is using oil the old d15b7 has over 220k miles on it, but has good compression still. So I know it is the head using oil, and instead of rebuilding it, a good friend of mine is selling me his z6 top end minus a p28, injectors, and a VTEC solenoid for dirt cheap. After I get a hold of everything needed I will do a mini-me swap on this car and have fun with that. And since the PO replaced the transmission with an s20 B000 transmission that shifts like butter. I'll lower it on some Function and Form full bodies and go from there.

So as you can see I've been a busy boy with this car in the last week. It's made me mad a few times already but that is the name of the game when you purchase an abused car. My over all reason for joining this site is not for the knowledge aspect or to really learn anything. I joined this site because it seems to have a fun chilled environment like a car club. There are a lot of Honda tuners in my area and we all hang out when we can. But I'm a forum lurker and love to read and give my input or just BS with other tuners across the world. I might go as far as posting a build thread on my Sol but it will be a slow moving project, but a project none the less! Here are a few pictures of how it is currently sitting, hope you all enjoy and thanks for reading!

I might have to hit you up very soon about that p28 they are kind of hard to find in my area at the moment for some reason.

Future plans? Well currently it's a mini-me swap, then a suspension rebuild, clean up the few rust spots, repaint the car (same color), paint my BBS wheels Champion White, MFactory LSD. Then later down the road I think it wold be fun to do an FJ Distributors A6 turbo block, Bisimoto built z6 head, Skunk2 IM, and build up my Si trans for some hair dryer action. But motor plans always change, I do have a y7 head that would be a BEAST of a boosted head if built right. I like y7 heads for boost it's just a good combo over all.

i'd swap out the Si trans for another one, well maybe. strictly speaking for the aluminum vs steel shift forks. but Si gearing is better. its a toss up.

ya shoot me a pm if you want it. is just sitting around and i'd love to make some money off it.

I like the color.
Thanks, yeah there are a few stock Sols running around in my neck of the woods. They are all red except for a hot pink one this blond bombshell is driving around. I have yet to see another Sol in my area the same color as mine. I think I did pretty good with this car, I traded it straight across for an old beat up 92 Camaro. I just needed into another Honda bad. My last one was killed by a Dodge Neon back in March, it was a VERY clean EK with low miles. And when she was murdered I was so upset over the loss of not only a great car, but a lot of money. I took what I got from insurance and bought the Camaro, I just needed out of the Honda scene a bit to recharge my tuner batteries. But I'm back and this car will be better by far than the last before I'm done.

Did a compression test on the b7 today. The good news is my compression is about the same across all four cylinders. The bad news is instead of being in the 150-185psi range I'm sitting at around 92.5psi average... So my rings are shot along with my head. Just means instead of a mini-me swap I'm doing a full z6 swap.
