okay guys Here is the aftermarket audio installation I have. I DESPERATELY need help to find a suitable alternator & battery setup.
Car Model:
2006 Honda Civic DX Coupe
1.8L engine
Audio setup:
1000w RMS for subs
400w rms for speakers
Total: 1400w rms = total continuous watt consumption of system
I read/viewed some how to guides and they suggested the following math to determine required Amp Hours for my alternator and battery(ies) setup.
1400w / .7 = 2000W - the .7 division has to do reasonable battery efficiency
2000w / 12v = 167amps - this is a conservative estimate for the voltage levels
So between my alternator and my batteries I need to have a combined output of 167 AH (amp hours). I REALLY want the alternator to handle as much of this as possible to ease the strain on batteries, etc.
I have had a very difficult time finding high-end batteries / alternators that fit my car, but I have found the following:
Optimus Yellow Top battery, model #: D51R
Specs: 38 AH (amp hours)
and I have consistently found alternators up to 80 amps, and some others which seem speculative but claim up to 140 amps at 1800 rpm.
Assuming I only buy one Optimus Yellow top. 167 - 38 = 129 AH. I would need an alternator that outputs about 130 amps at 12 volts. Now, I can buy two batteries and complicate my electrical system a little. But I'd rather find an alternator capable of this level of output. ANY HELP IN ANY FORM WOULD BE VERY VERY APPRECIATED.
Thanks!
