so i got a 00 civic and my deck stopped working that had only been in there for a few months so i pulled it out and what happened was the yellow 12v power wire had come untwisted so i wrapped it bak up and tested the radio and everything worked, so i decided to solder the wire but forgot to unplug the battery and as soon as i touched the wire with the soldering iron, it sparked.... so i chcked the fuse and sure enough it was popped so i put a new one in and the radio still wouldnt turn back on. so i thought i blew a capacitor in deck or something and bought a brand new deck and wired it all in and still no luck. i have an ohms meter and the yellow wire that says 12v on it is not getting any power when the key is on. is it possible i fried the actual wire or something like that? all fuses are replaced. if not, where should i take it to get looked at? a special mechanic shop or just anywhere?

edit: is there possibly a fuse in the bay as well for the radio?

Look for a posting by RonJ. He has the fuse diagram link in his signature I believe.

I would bet a guess that you still have a fuse blown somewhere. If you burnt the wire bad enough to short it completely, you would know it. You would DEFINITELY smell it.

Check both 10A dash fuse 28 (Yel/Red wire) and 7.5A hood fuse 47 (Back Up fuse) (Wht/Blu wire). It is best to test the installed fuses with a test light or multimeter as described at the Test Fuses link in my signature.
