i have a 93 civic with a 94 d15b7 ..5spd.. i bought a new distributor cap just as maintenance. when i removed the old distributor cap the spring from the ignition coil fell. i sat it back where it needed to be ( it was dangling but it sat it place for the most part). i put the new o ring in and continued to put the new cap on. when i hooked the battery back up and tried to start it... nothing happend. just a click when im turning the key and a click when i release from starting. i took the cap back off and compared it to the old one.. everything is the same but i noticed the black piece in the direct center of the cap (on the side) was almost like a button on the new one. the old one looked like it was once a button but it broke maybe, not sure because the old one didnt press in like the new one did. thats the ONLY difference between the 2. idk if that button really matters or if the spring from the coil falling damaged something.. any input would help. well any input besides " use google search" or the typical forum responses.
