New headunit, No sound...

I just took out an alpine headunit to put in a JVC DVD unit in my 04 EX...problem is when the headunit comes on, i hear a slight crackle for a second and thats it, nothing else. Headunit receives power fine, plays dvds fine, just no sound. Ive always done my own audio work, but for some reason im stumped. Anyone else ran into this problem?

crackle would indicate a short. Not something you want to keep turning the unit on and off with

Hope you didn't buy the JVC new

Kinda an expensive deck to turn around and fry

Use the alpine as a check deck

look for shorts in anything

re install alpine to check output

then re install the JVC

You may have permantly damaged the JVC, if you got it brand new you may be able to get the shop to exchange it

then again you may not

I hate to rub it in, but thats what the pros are for. Saved yourself a hundred bucks+ 1 expensive fried unit

Fixed

The conclusion I came to was that the internal amp just gave out on me. So I installed a 4 Channel ampa, ran my own wire, and now im back in the game!
