Most Boring Car
Hi all,
I just purchased a silver '97 Civic DX Sedan (with an auto, yuck). The car has 34,733 miles on it, was a single owner car, came from Cali, driven by grandma to mass, and just had a new auto trans put in 1,200 miles ago (about a year, lol) for $2,800 at a dealer. Every maintenance item has been done on time and at the dealer, has all paperwork. This car is nearly perfect, I just couldn't pass it up. Paid $4K even. (Exact KBB value.)
The only option this car has IS the auto trans, and I'd rather it didn't have that. Possibly the most boring Civic ever bought.
Plans for the car: (in order of action)
-Replace oil pan gasket (seepage), and rotate/balance/align the tires.
-All-weather mats, keeping prefect condition carpet's for summer.
-Protective seat covers.
-Black housing headlamps (not smoked).
-LED bulbs all around.
-Factory cassette deck (iPod cassette adapter).
-A EX/LX gauge cluster w/ tach.
-A GOOD HID kit, not a no-brand eBay one that melts your harness.
-Kosei 14" rims and good summer tires, probably Yokohama S-drive. (Keeping the steelies with brand new all-seasons for winter.)
-A/C kit installation.
-Cruise control installation.
-Adjustable suspension kit.
-Auto 2 Manual swap. (Probably GSR)
I'll be putting about 40K miles a year on this car.
This car is replacing my 1995 Camry V6 LE with 203K, it's getting tired, and I'm getting tired of all of the warning lights. Gonna miss the power and all of the luxury options. But I need a car that will go at least another 200K, hello Honda.
My other car is a stripped and semi-built 1983 VW Rabbit L 4spd w/ 177K that I use as a summer fun car, it's basically stock with everything but the dashboard, carpet, and front seats ripped out of it. I rebuilt the head with stock parts, runs great. Great car, super fun. Very little rust. No rev limiter, 75HP woo! $53/6 months to insure. Recommended as a extraneous car.
