ok well i have a 4door civic realy who knew ha. its a 1994 4 door dark grey auto trans and the 1.5 novtec stock. its slow off the line but if your doing around 30mph or more and floor it you get a kick. everything is stock but the front bumper is from a 1994 civic hatchback it dosent fit right on i dont know why? but thats not why im posting im posting because im getting $2000dollars next month dont ask how lol. i dont know what to do with it i know i want to put it in the car but how? so i got on google and looked up somethings motors, trans, paint job, rims , and springs. what i found was on jdm depot a d15b 3stage vtec for $599 and for $150 more i can get the trans 5 speed. all i need is the ecu $150, axels $..?.., motor mounts if needed $..?.., and im going to have a shop put it in for me i know thats a b***h move but i really dont know what to do or were to start. the shop is asking for $800 starting and if anything gose wrong or they need to do anything extra it can go up to $1200. so motor and trans $750 plus ecu $150 it gose to $900. now i know i need the drive axel price ..?.. and lets say the mounts are good which i think are good because the motor dosent move even when you start it cold. so it would be the $900 plus lets say a nother $900 to put in i would have $200 left over and this is me dreaming lol. .:wak

You can do an auto to manual swap for CHEAP if you try and look hard enough for parts. I did mine for about $800, without the cost of labor, and this is through two transmissions because some dbag on this site sold me a bad one (we won't mention any names). I just happen to have a friend who knows a s**t ton about Honda's and helps me out.

There's a parts list of things you need for the 5 speed swap....

honestly, if you can sell it and buy another one for what you sold that for that was stock a 5 speed. i helped my friend do it; totally not worth it and if your planning on doing so much to it, why not sell it and buy a newer shell for cheap? just my opinion, do with it what you will.

If you need a daily driver, I'd say do the preventive/cyclic maintenance on the automatic to keep it working while you build your project car. Start researching what you want to build, then take the $2k and buy a shell for ~$500, then build it as researched. Either way, you'll spend more than $2k, but at the end of your build, you will either have a DD and a built ride, or you can sell the automatic DD and just roll in your build.

Do it once, do it right.

Bee sixteen aye two

WHAT NOW?!?!!?

Seriously though, do it. While you're at that, perfect time to switch to 5 speed. I'm tellin ya, switching to 5 speed was the best thing we've done to my car. Even better than boost. Kinda...ish.. eh

if u do the 3 stage vtec u will need a bunch of y8 parts like intake mani and such. i dont remember exactly, but there is a member on here that did the 3 stage d15b and said it was a pain in the ass because he had ot buy a bunch of other parts.

i had a jdm d15b in one of my civics and never wired up vtec, but it ran great even without the 3 stage.

if u really want to swap it, do a 5 speed conversion and get either a b16a or a d15b(1st gen) or a z6 or y8 swap. those are about the easiest into your chassis and u could easily do it yourself and save a lot of cost.
