Hey guys im new to Honda's well performance wise. Im hopefully getting a 92-95 hatch. Now im good with engines but im debating on one thing. Dual Over Head Cam. Now i know dohc is more power and the more wanted engine. But it cost more money bc ppl know they have performance opportunity's. But im not going to be doing any serious racing except for some red light challenges and showing off. Am i gonna lose out that much if i get a sohc? I mean i plan on cold air intake, intake mani, full exhaust, headers, maybe a chip and wiring but thats almost all i plan. Will i be fine with either engines? Input please? Thanks guys.

All of these "new" questions sound like a broken record, so I will reiterate what I have said before.

All of the answers are easily found out there on this site or one of the other 1,xxx,xxx Honda sites, especially for a chassis that is over 15 yrs old.

Most parts between the different series or motors, (for example b series motors and d series motors) DO NOT swap and interchange.
Ultimately, it is your actual budget that will dictate what you can do and you're goals.

second: what are your power goals?
based on what parts you have listed that you want to modify then you can pick an engine thats right for your goals and budget

Hes "hopefully" getting a 92-95 hatch if his parents give him enough allowance. Dont waste your time, hes not going to see a B swap for a very long time.

i see what you guys are getting at, i was at least just pointing him in the right direction where he could start researching and doing things on his own. It was his first post and probably first forum. has no knowledge of modifications whatsoever. looks like he needed a little direction.

Red light challenges lol

DOHC makes more power than sohc, considerably IMO. Having owned both, currently with a sohc, I miss my DOHC. But the gas mileage is better with a sohc. For a daily with some pep sohc are fine. For pure racing applications DOHC are an easier foundation, but sohc turbo builds are competitive as well.
