new lad looking for answers!!

hi all!!, im new to jap cars, let alone civics.
my name is martin, im 20 years old and im from south east england, kent!
to be honest im on this site raiding all the project logs to read the builds as i intend on doing a conversion.
ive had a few quick cars in my short experience in driving including a 2.0 corsa b (chavvy i know).. i had a 170bhp rover metro which was by far the best car ive owned!! went like a rocket only weighyin around 750kg!
i currently own a 2000 reg vw polo. this is my daily and isnt really modified as such. it has a set of polished d 90 alloys and slammed 100mm on kw v2 coilovers. this will be my car until i create what i hope to be a very decent civic!
i plan to be building this on the side and when its done it shall be my daily, im not looking to do a budget build, but i also havent got ££££ just to chuck into a carstraight away

sorry about all the rambling!! right now lets get on with why im here. to be honest i have no experience with any honda / jap cars. a friend of mine had a 1.4 tornado but he wouldnt let me talk him into any mods .
what i am looking for is a few kind members to point me in the right directions of the following:
- what civic should i be looking to buy for a b16/18 conversion? the best car to start with?
-what the better choice of engine would be and why? e.g (power gains standard and after a few mods) and (realiability)
- im reasonanly good when it comes to being mechanically minded, im hoping this will further my knowledge in cars. am i trying to over achive on my abilities?

well there is my long intoduction and i hope i have a few people willing to point me in the right direction!! sorry about all the infomation im asking for
also, is anyone local to me?? im in sittingbourne kent. would love to maybe see or speak to a few local members who know their stuff to
thanks for your time!!
martin

Welcome!

There are a few UK members on here, can't remember any usernames at the moment. You can start out by reading the "Civic Specs" tab at the top of the page, or click here: http://www.clubcivic.com/index.php?pageid=specs

The easiest civics to swap a b-series into is the 5th and 6th gen. There is TONS of info online you can search for, so its best to just read read read. Its been done about 2736458829521874937457 times so even if you are only slighty mechanically minded you will be fine.

Feel free to PM me with any other questions.
