new owner first honda!

hey everyone im new to this area of cars was mostly into offroad now im on the street. spent a lot of time working on my bros 2010 wrx but its way different then my honda haha. i picked up a 2000ex with a d15b in it. my bro got me the skunk2 short shift for graduation (made such a difference) that was to hard of and install and my buddy that works at pan auto in san diego has been hooking me up with parts. i picked up an intake and a test pipe intake went in no problem test pipe was a whole other story. i got the blox racing test pipe and it wouldnt fit unless i didnt run the o2 sensor because the sensor would hit the bottom of my car or point straight at the ground which also seemed bad to me. has anyone else ran this pipe and had this problem? i called my guy at pan and he said he may had just giving me the wrong model test pipe so im thinking that may be it. also i was wondering how difficult it is to paint my valve cover. if anyone could walk me through that and give me some tips that would be great. thanks.

First off, Welcome to CC and enjoy your stay. Put up some pix. Wrong test pipe is most likely the problem.

if its an ex then it didnt come stock with a d15 why does it have that motor in it?

thanks for the help i was just using the wrong link on photobucket.

but here are the pics. in the one you can see how i run out of wire and its being stretched and in the other the sensor is hitting the bottom of the car. and these pic are without the defowler that im gonna use so imagine another into or too coming off the sensor. im hopefully going down to pan auto tomorrow to get this whole thing situated though.

and the guy who owned it before me blew the stock motor up somehow and put in the d15b when he did the swap. but its all done right i have the paper work from the shop and its barred for the motor.

haha yea defiantly the wrong year for the pipe. I think thats for an 01+ but i might be wrong.. regardless, that blows.

haha not the engine blowing but that the pipe doesn't fit... im retarded. I suppose you get another like 5 hp out of a d15b compaired to a d16y8 so.

yeh does kinda suck being the wrong pipe but Wednesday i should be able to have the write one. not too big of a deal my buddies just gonna swap it for the right one

like i said on the last thread prolly single cam turbo. for now i am just gonna do intake headers exhaust and the suspension. so far iv got the intake and the test pipe. also did a skunk2 short shifter, shift nob and replaced all the bushings in the linkages.

haha yeh dude having a brother with a 2010 Subaru that iv do a lot of work too really makes me jealous haha. hes making 315whp and it makes my car look like its standing still haha. i paid like 70 bucks for it. going to get my new one tomorrow : )

yeh it seems like its a better product then the blox. i didnt really know how i felt about the blox it was a weird set up
