Names Mike, just recently purchased a 96 Civic LX 4dr with only 115000 original miles for $2100, this car is a work in progress but is also my daily driver. So far I have replaced both door to floor wiring harnesses, headliner, 2 window motors & regulators, valve cover gasket (it was leaking oil bad), brakes & rotors, replaced small things to the interior & exterior of the car. I am looking for an alternator because I think the oil leak might have damaged it a bit (dash lights dim at night when I hit the brakes) so I'm looking for that as well as both visors in grey, the car runs great, good gas milage, tranny shifts like it was new & A/C works which is a must have in Florida. So far I have put about $500 in the car with parts I have pulled from junkyards & done the work myself & also had a friend help. I have lurked around this site & see lots of good info to help aide me in my repairs so I thought I would join & maybe post some feedback of things I have encountered while working on my Civic, thanks guys. :D

I have always wanted to restore a 65 Mustang & take it to shows, I'll be doing that in my retirement I guess, I like that one in your pic, nice color too, my favorite. I loved my GT but broke the crankshaft & cracked the block & I wasn't even trying to be cool, I was pulling in to a 7-11 parking lot & it happened, i would have been better if I had been racing it then the story would be better, I ended up selling it for parts & buying a beater car to get to work in & decided to wait to get something better but I got this civic & it is fun to work on, my new toy.

That Mustang was with me throughout all of high school. 10-12. That car and I went through so much s**t. I think I broke just about everything on it. What a car to learn on though.

Hey BY THE WAY! thanks for the compliment on the color. Everyone hated it. A friend and I went and "learned" how to do some body work on the car. I ran out of money to get a real job so we bought like 20 bucks in spray cans and painted the whole thing so it wouldn't rust. Then I blew a tire and had to do the whole front end again. Good times man good times. I don't think my civic will ever be as fun as that car. Then again... if things keep breaking maybe it will!

The Civic's a good car though, fun in it's own way but still.

Yea, I miss going to the junkyard for the Mustang, once we pulled a cobra intake off a 92 & I got the racing seats out of it, now it's different with the civic, I'm looking for some engine parts sure but mostly looking for interior peices, clips & screws. My Mustang had a lot of work done on it & I did 90% of it myself, the civic is kinda like a toy car, it's easy to take apart once you see how it all goes together plus it's nice to have the service manual.

As I posted in another thread, I finished my sun visor recover & they look pretty good, I will post a tutorial when I get my extra visor from a friend so others can see how I did it, today it's time to install new front & rear speakers because the car still has factorys in it & I'm about to blow them with the head unit I have installed. BTW, the door factory speaker is 6 1/4 size but you can put in a 6 1/2 if you get the right ones, make sure you get ones that have the mounts that stick out off the edge, the actual diameter is 2 1/4 so the fit like factory speakers, here is what to look for...

If the extensions around the edge get in the way use a pair of pliers to bend them out but that shouldn't be a problem, mine fit with no issues or cutting on the door panel.
