Whats up guys i been having trouble on this swap i am going to do in my 1997 honda civic dx , the original motor is of course the d16y7 non vtec and i am planning to throw in a b18a1 with a b16 pr3 vtec head. I already have all the components i need as in the alternator, starter, throttle body , intake manifold, headers, just need to know what kind of transmission i need to use ??? I have heard that i can use any b16 or b18 transmission Ls, gsr and crv transmission , i get confused when i read that i need to convert cable to hydro???? i dont understand that at all???? i also need to know what harness i need to use to hook up to my chasis for the dash lights,? i have a b16 harness dosent hook up at all i also have a d16z6 harness dosent work, any idea on that ? much help really appreciated !!!!!!

yea any b series hydro box will do. your civic should already have a hydro box. hydro means it has hydraulic line to release the clutch instead of a cable. cable boxes are only found in older models.
as for harness you need to use the engine harness and ecu that came with the b series engine and you will have to get a jumper harness to connect your d series dash loom to the b series engine loom. these can be got online and arent overly expensive. you just need to find out what obd the original engine was and what the new engine is. i.e obd1 to obd2 jumper, not saying thats what it is but something like that.
