New to the Forum!! quick qestions

Hey guys i just bought a 97 civic hx coupe 5spd for 1300 not to much wrong with except it looks all ricey. its got this problem where you can't open the door from the outside but it can open from the inside only on the drivers side door im sure its an easy fix just don't know what im doing lol. also it has a very very very ugly hood scoop. but what i wanted to know is that it has a 1.6 vtec-e in it will i still be able to hear it engage vtec or no? and can i throw a d16 y8 head on it?

wow omg yes that hood is horrible, I suggest doing some body work and bring it back to stock, as for hearing the vtec engage well IDK how lucky your going to get with that, you'd be pretty lucky if you can hear it. Maybe with a catback exhaust.

ohh and yea you can put a y8 head on it dont know if you need the ECU im guessing you do though if anyone else can chip in.

Thanks lol yeah told you it was bad, you think i can trade it for a oem hood? maybe even a stock cf. and it has a somewhat of an exhaust but im replacing it cuz the can is like a 5inch outlet and it looks like its overkilling the car lol ya know.

yea the exhaust has to go. Do you have an intake? And about the hood you can probs put it up on craigslist and sell it there someones bound to want it. And i just checked about the ECU and yes you need the ECU that goes with the head your using.

Yeah, definitely need the ECU since the main factor between the D16Y5 and Y8 are the ECU, Cam Specs, and Pistons.
Connecting Rods, Crank, Head, and Block are similar.

Not too bad of a find if it runs right, but please get rid of the hood that thing needs to be melted down..... waste of metal.

That hood is god awful if it runs strong though not a bad find. I dont see anyone trading an oem hood or a cf hood for that thing though. Like suggested above post it on craiglist cant hurt you never know could be somebodys dream hood lol.

Fortunately, it did not encounter bad. Otherwise, there will be unfortunate thing happened.
