New to the Honda world and got some questions please help

Ok so I recently picked up a 1990 si hatch that's been boosted but threw a rod outta the block before I got it it was said to have a d17 in it but when I had a buddy look at it he laughed and said that's not a d17 head. He then told me that all d17s are coil on plug is this true? It actually says d17 on the block. So heres another question would it be easier to just buy a swap and new manny and boost a b series or what? Looking to get it running at a decent price. It says P2F-6 on the head if it helps

I've been a muscle car guy for a while (just getting into hondas) and my typical Motto is if someone f**ked it up and u have no idea what whent wrong or what u have ditch it man part it out and get something diffrent honda parts are pretty cheap but then agin that's just my opinion Hell u might be able to part it out and get close to enough money to buy something else

And not to mention I got a d im about to go b this d series Honda is the slowest car I owned but those b and k series r pretty Nice

Well see I got a sweet deal on it all the turbo stuff is turbonetics body is in good shape and a clear title so I'm wanting to keep the car but I'm not sure what would be best to do with it is like to find out what the head is so I could find another motor to just drop in a go

My be some confusion I'm sayin rip the motor out see if u can keep the turbo and sell what u can of the motor if u got off luck u might be able to get a motor for real cheap with the part out of the old one if u wanna stay d I should be able to get ahold of a home sellin a 16z6 long block with low compression pistions for like 450-500

How much of the d series stuff could I use? It's got like 1000cc injectors and and stuff or that what they said. Like I said I know 0 about this lol so I will take any help I can help just make sure you simplifie it as much as possible lol

I've been out of the game for a while so am a little rusty and possibly out of date, but I'll give my opinion since you haven't gotten a lot of replies.
Last I heard F swaps are possible but a lot harder than a B, but they may be easier now than they were. Either way you'll need a mount kit and some research before you start.
As far as what you can keep, what are the specs on that turbo? unless it is too small you should be able to use it, injectors too. The turbo manifold will not be compatible with another engine series either.
As for engine/transmission parts and ECU, basically nothing can be used of you switch from D series.
Look on eBay at D17 stuff to see if it looks like what you have. From what I see, D17 were only in 2001 and newer Civics so will be ODB2 and hydrolic transmission, meaning the ECU was swapped (check for hacked harness) and a cable to hydro mount kit was installed. I personlly haven't touched a Civic that new.
