New To The Site and My First Civic!

Although I've owned MANY cars in my life, and driven many Hondas, this is MY first Honda car (I have 2 Honda motorcycles). I bought a '97 Civic EX last night. I've always liked this body style, and always wanted one. But every one I saw was molested in some way shape or form. I'm a stickler for originality. If there are to be any mods done, I'd like to be the one to do them, or have them done.
Well, I drove by a dealership last night, on my way home from a poker tournament and saw this Civic. It was as close to unmolested that I've found in quite some time. I hopped on it!
Fellow enthusiasts, I'd LOVE to hear your opinions of what my first steps should be with this car. I want to keep the interior as close to %100 as possible. I'm looking for the OEM radio, shift knob, and floor mats, and ways to get the headliner reupholstered as we speak. I'd like to get the factory rims as well. If not, I'd like some different 15" wheels than the ones I have now. I'm not trying to break land-speed records, but I'd like a little more power with little less noise. As much as I love the way the exhaust fits tis Civic, I'm not to thrilled with the loudness.
I'm open to listen all ideas! I can't wait to hear from you guys and I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty!

I was trying to take that perfect shot. Didn't happen. I was just snapping away! I'm probably going to take a whole lot more of the rest of the car when the weather gets better. The Civic ran me $2700...$3300 out the door (tax, title, fees, etc).

Looks like a perfect platform.

I'd recommend an engine swap, suspension work.

What type of engine? I'm not looking to spend a lot. $2000 at the most. (not including labor)
What type of suspension work? I like the ride height as is and I don't want a ride thats too too bumpy. This is going to be a daily commuter.

well if its a daily commuter leave the d series.. I wouldnt do anything to the motor if you want it to get good gas mileage and still run good. I'd do skunk2 pro series coilovers, some nice rota's, maybe some window tint and call it a day. And also if you want a quiet exhaust that will give a little more power, Apexi WS2.

Thanks for the advice. I'm writing this stuff down and going to do some research.

(I saw your other post, too. Thanks. :thumbs up)
