New to the site. Have a quick question

Hey guys =) I'm new to this site and the world of civics. So here's my case. I wrecked my DA (automatic 91 integra ls) earlier this month and tomorrow I'm going to pick up my new car; a 2001 Civic LX 5 speed. Now I've driven a manual before, but it was in my girlfriend's dad's F350 which was certainly nothing like a small civic. I stalled quite a bit and I could hardly start from the top of a hill. While going up a hill, I also couldn't control the truck from bucking. So I'm going to pick up my EM2 tomorrow and I'm gonna have to drive it home which is a 45 minute drive. Me being somewhat new to driving 5 speed, my question is when slowing down, should I attempt to downshift, or just throw the car in neutral and brake? I really don't want to cause premature damage to the clutch while I'm still learning to drive the car. Any help is greatly appreciated. =)

Neutral i suggest driving around parking lot before you head home. I guarantee it will be easier than the truck. As long as you have first gear and reverse down your good

Don't downshift to slow down unless you would rather change a clutch than brake pads. Plus if you don't know how to downshift correctly you can do damage.
