Well im starting to feel the need for a little more kick.. can get a superb deal on a zex dry kit... would probably do the 55 shot... not too much..anyway.. The problem is i have an aftermarket ecu (by gude, made to run with my gude head package) which advances ignition timing... On this small of a shot will that be a problem?? Does anyone have experience running nitrous with chipped N/A ecu's?

What can i do?? Its not worth it if i have to go back to a stock ecu and go from shifting at 8k rpm's to 6500 and lose the day to day power..

not good at all... at a 50 shot you should be stock timing or even retarded, but not advanced.. the aggresive ignition on most aftermarket chips/ecus is fine for N/A but with nitrous as far as im aware typically causes detonation... so the two things you want just dont go together imo..

I had an idea that maybe i could set the distributor back a few degrees to more or less compensate for the ecu advancing it.. Would this work?

i really think that with the aggresive NA aplication you selected.. you would be best to call gude and talk to them.. they will definately have some solid suggestions on the matter.. and i would trust that suggestion way more than any rand0m advice you will get here.. anything is possible, but the manufacture knows the cam specs.. the ecu info etc.. and THEY will be able to tell you MUCH better in regards to if it can be sprayed or not..

very true... thank you for the advice, however as many people know, gude customer service is pretty much s**t. You get on the phone with Bill Gude and he talks to you like your some punkass kid and hes this old man with hemroids.. I tried and he said "you'd have to be a f**kin moron to get a zex dry shot"... really professional... made me feel good that I gave him a whole summers worth of paychecks...

just called a friend who knows a lot more about it than i do and he says spraying on that setup will more than likely equal broken parts.. if you give me DETAIL on the whole motor setup he said to run it by him.. but more than likely its a no go.. sorry man..

You could setup your ECU to run 2 programs. The program they gave you and one with the timing retarded. then you can have the best of both worlds. =) if you want you can pm me for details

there are other important factors that need to be discussed like the motors current compression ratio.. the aggresive ignition IS a problem.. but its not the only problem IMO ;)

Doesnt msd make a nitrous retard box?
yes they do. but why not jsut have one box (ecu) just do everything? instead of having to wire up more things that can potenialy fail. Though the retard box is a good option.

the motors compression is 10 to 1
Wait, can i buy the MSD retard box w/o buying one of their ignitions??

alright.. ive pretty much decided that even though i want to spray on it, im not gonna put a pretty nice setup at risk for a couple hp out of a dry shot... ill just keep having fun with what i have... thanks alot for the help.

well looks like your only option is to go into the bottom end, take the next step with that N/A build up man.

my buddy had the same problem w/ his GUDE ecu... so he had it re-chipped by some dude... cost him like 100-200 dollars i think, but it was a custom tune. runs real nice now. not sure where u could send it to, or any shops that might chip ecus near u... so BUMP for some info for this guy! =)
