Alright...when you take out the stock deck...that is what controls the dome light...when you remove it and put in a after market deck, you will no longer be able to use your dome light when you open the door, but you still can maually turn it on. I havent heard about this "jumper" thing so...im not sure if thats correct.

It is correct, and it does fix the domelight problem, but I haven't tested it on a civic with keyless yet. You're right on the wiring going through the factory radio that controls keyless and dome. I'm an installer at Circuit City, and I've done this fix about 7 times so far on civics....works every time. What sucks though is that the only 2 civics that had keyless, they never worked properly to begin with, so I couldn't test to see if this fixes the keyless not working or not. Oh well.

BTW, it is the bright neon green plug that used to plug into the OEM radio. The old method is to use a "T" harness from Metra to keep the factory radio plugged in and hanging behind the dash. This is just a pain in the ass and impractical.

The 2 wires are green/red and green/black. Just solder them together and domelight will work again.

absolutely rediculous...hmmm...so if i spice in some wire to those wires that were indicated in the earlier posts to make my dome light functional again? I wish i knew that a few years ago...but, i'll definitly be doing this as soon as i can...!

wow

I guess i didn't have my coffee that morning

lets try this again

behind your deck there is a green plug that you didn't use to wire up the deck

if you jump the green with a black stripe and the green with the red stripe together the domelight will work

I wasn't being a d**k

thats how you retain he domelight function in 96-98 civics
