Loud, but it should spool up FAST!!!jdog said:i have a question would i have problems driving my car with no exhaust. Its turbocharged there will be nothing after the downpipe? might have to drive it for awhile until my custom exhaust will be done.
For some reason, the CRX of doom comes to mind. Ever seen the one with the entire turbo sticking like a foot out of the hood?Green 91 said:not to loud, since the turbo acts as a muffler.
The turbo works by using the pressure drop across the turbine. For example, if your exhaust makes 5 pounds of backpressure and your turbo needs 5 pounds of pressure drop to reach full speed, then there will be 10 pounds of backpressure in your manifold. Now take away the exhaust, and you only need 5 pounds of backpressure, thus speeding up the spooling by taking away half the work.Genuine Rolla said:why would it spool up faster any faster if it had a straight pipe exhaust from the down pipe
yes, that would be badCacheHX said:would it be bad to run it with no downpipe whatsoever at least till i get my custom one made
if its mandrel 3", there shouldnt be much difference...Genuine Rolla said:but say if from the down pipe, its all just straight pipe, no cat, no resonator or anything...would that be the same thing...or would it still cause restriction..?

ive had both open DP, and catless 2.25" exhaust on my car when it was n/aHandlebars said:open dp is LOUD on a turbo car. trust me. i have a 3" cutout, and theres NO mistaking it for a real exhaust.
The restriction is going to be based on the size of the pipes. By using no cat, no muffler you could use a smaller diameter pipe because the parts that cause the mose retrictions are gone. Keep in mind that with what exhaust shops refer to as "import style fart cans" there really isn't any pressure being made there. Leaving the cat. On a dyno the difference between a stock cat, a high flow cat, and straight pipe all flowing through the same exhaust was only at best a 1-3 hp difference. I would keep the cat and muffler and go with the slightly larger pipe.Genuine Rolla said:but say if from the down pipe, its all just straight pipe, no cat, no resonator or anything...would that be the same thing...or would it still cause restriction..?
