Hey so I just found a guy selling a virgin p28 with a obd2- obd1 jumper harness on my local craigslist for $150 is this a good buy? I figured I better jump on it just because its local and eventually I will need to convert to obd 1 if I ever want to tune my 97 ex right? Besides piggybacks and what not for the p2p? Also if I do buy the ecu will I be wasting my time putting it on my car right now? All I have is I/H/E or will I be able to squeeze a few extra pony's out of my motor if I go get it tuned? Also is it true that I wont be able to pass emissions after converting?? Because I live in Boise *home of a s**t load of tree huggn mo fo's* and our emission laws are tight. Some help from anyone with REAL experiences (not just what you read on another forum! Because i've probably already read it and I keep getting mixed opinions and no real answer) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I would only put it in if you have to.. IE (motor swap, turbo, etc)

If you are just a stock motor, might as well just leave the stock ecu in there for now.

Also you will NOT pass emissions with an OBD1 ecu in the car. It will not hook up to the OBD2 scanner.

Thanks for the reply

Would I get more power with swapping the ecus and tune? or not really?
and would I just be able to unplug the p28 and swap the stock ecu in when ever I need to get tested?

yes you can plug the stock ecu back in if you are minorly modded n/a.

i picked up a p06 vtec converted (from xenecron) with extra resistors and such for the conversion, along with a 4 bar map sensor and nokia datalog cable for $100

good deals ftw
