OEM Overhaul

Hey guys I've had my 2000 Si for about two years now and I'm looking to pretty much over haul the entire engine/trans. The car has begun to leak oil like it's no ones business and the tranny is iffy at best. My questions are 1) What engine rebuild kit would you guys suggest? 2) What transmission rebuild kit would you suggest (I've been looking at synchro-techs rebuild kits)? 3) Would it be worth while to upgrade to ctr cams/supportable valve train? The cars main purpose is a fun daily car and that's about it, this is the last winter it will be seeing. Any suggestions please feel free, this will be my first honda rebuild of my own car and I'm looking for the best bang per buck without turbo bc I just want a reliable daily driver. Thanks!

Are you looking to redo it and maintain its stock setup, or rebuild with some goodies for added pep? If you're looking to maintain stock, just source out OEM Honda parts. Nothing will run better and hold it together better than parts used to originally build / assemble the motor, same deal with the tranny.

Si engine should be able to support little more aggressive cams, could always look into a CTR head. Lots of info to be found in this regards, all over the net. Can look to see if it's a viable option and what you want to get out of it.

Yea, I would prefer for it to have a little more umph. I would like the ability to pull another b16 pretty well. Just nothing crazy seeing as my camaro sucks all my money away. Looking to spend around 2,000-2500 for almost new everything.

maybe get some b16b high(er) compression pistons at 10.8:1 vs the b16a2 compression of 10.2:1 or try some forged pistons? probably the best bet would be to buy a chipped ecu and conversion harness to really bring the power out on a dyno. like stated though oem for bearing and gaskets is the best way to go.
